RatB0Y68
I have hit a huge problem. Upon installing Fallout 3: game of the year edition, and trying to start a new game, it immediately crashes to desktop. I have FOMM and FOSE installed & the game is patched, I have the same problem with or without mods activated. My graphics card may only be a basic Intel video card but this doesn't seem to be an issue when I play Oblivion; Bethesda made both games so why should one work with my shoddy video card and not another? My RAM is just above recommended level so that shouldn't be a problem. The only problem I can think of is weak CPU, the recommended requirement is 2.4 Ghz, whereas mine is 2.13 Ghz, but it's also Quad Core (I think). Please help! I have no aptitude with computers whatsoever, so I can't really solve this myself.
Vampiress892
I don't know why Oblivion would work and Fallout doesn'\t for the same maker, but if all you have is the chipset Fallout won't work. You need to have a dedicated graphics card. (At least in all my experience, anyone can feel free to prove me wrong)
Werne
Fallout won't even run with an integrated card, but I know some people that play it on an integrated card. CPU is not a problem, I played fallout on a 1.9 Ghz CPU untill I finally upgraded. Disable all mods and move all .esm's (except fallout.esm) from the Data folder (don't delete them) and run the game with Fallout3.exe. Also delete the Fallout.ini, so the game generates a new one and lower the graphics setting to the lowest possible. That should remove most thing that could cause a crash. Werne
You did mentioned you might have a quad-core processor. Try using the .ini fix for the quad-core CPU's: Open up the fallout.ini file in: My Documents\My Games\Fallout3 Find the line: bUseThreadedAI=0 change it to: bUseThreadedAI=1 Add another line after it and insert: iNumHWThreads=2 This will limit the game to 2 cores.
