New morphs, invisible NPCs

So, for some reason, when I add a morph to an NPC, they just completely disappear and I'm not sure what the issue is. I look up their name under the creature list, so... "cli420cr_anora" as an example, and have both a .utc and .mor file placed with that name in my override folder, they don't show up at all. When loaded in the toolset, they have their morph, but in game, they're invisible and untargetable. What am I forgetting @_@?

Did you replace/make changes to the UTCs after entering the map where the NPC is encountered? For Epilogue NPCs, that means any edited files must be in place prior to killing the Archdemon.

Have you also edited the morph assignment in the creature file? IIRC, that string is under Appearance>HeadMorph, and the entry should include the name of the morph but NOT the extension... cli420cr_anora, and NOT cli420cr_anora.mor. (And while I'm sure you know this, these boards function as something of a 'library' of modding advce, so I will mention here that morph assignments are made by information contained in a UTC, not by merely pairing like-named files.)

While I can't imagine why the entire model for a character would disappear (apart from missing assets), I do know that sometimes morphs won't work if the 'internal name' (the NAME string) isn't the same as the file name... as an example, because I know that was clear as mud:

If I export a morph from an mrh called awesome_alistair.mrh and then rename the exported file from awesome_alistair.mor to hm_genfl_alistair.mor, the morph will not always work, since the internal nomenclature/NAME string will still be 'awesome_alistair'. Saving a copy of the mrh as hm_genfl_alistair.mrh and then exporting works, as does editing the NAME field of the mor in a GFF editor or the toolset.

That's exactly what I didn't do. I had googled how to change the morph of an NPC, and they didn't mention this and the comments implied that copying the name of the creature "cli420_anora) for example is all that needed to be done, but her morph name is hf_den510_anora. I hadn't even thought of looking to see if that existed in the information that's provided.

So, let's see if I can get this to work now.

Just as an aside, you can open *.mor files with pyGFF Editor "editor.exe" and change the "awesome_alistair" name to "hm_genfl_alistair"", it's line 2.

Yep, Line 2. That's the NAME field I mentioned above.
