Parkillous
Hey I want to uninstall and reinstall oblivion (I have my reasons, they are pretty standard ones, please dont ask). Problem is when i click uninstall it sais it cant do it > go to setup.exe... Also, when i click on remove oblivion in add/remove programmes nothing happens... ... Also, when i go to oblivion folder... uh oh... no setup.exe folder there anymore... and not in recycle bin either... just lots of obmm and obse launchers lol... So yes I have the CS, OBMM and OBSE installed with Oblivion. Q: How do I succesfully uninstall and reinstall Oblivion (wiping the jumble of modified files and savegames) given the above circumstances? Marxist ßastard
I was about to ask why you 1) didn't run a Google search, since this is a fairly common problem and 2) felt the need to explicitly say you weren't going to say why you were uninstalling the game. Then, I did the search myself. Mein Gott. I proceeded to wade through the sea of "lol y wud u want 2 uninstall oblivion its a gud gaem..?" and "press the eject button." Even if my suggestion doesn't work, I think I deserve kudos just for that feat of superhuman endurance. You want to use the setup.exe on the installation DVD --- not one that's in the Oblivion installation directory, if there was one there to begin with. If it'll let you install in the same directory as the previous installation (IE, right on top of it, overwriting any damaged files) do so. If nothing else, that will allow you to uninstall the second installation normally, taking the first out with it. Otherwise, as long as you run setup.exe from the Oblivion DVD, it'll tinker around with the registry some, hopefully allowing you to uninstall Oblivion normally from Add/Remove Programs. Thank you.
Switch
mehrunis' post removed. Spam, as your suggestion has already been mentioned, and the problem resolved. Again, please read the thread before posting.
