Reported files-lack of response

@ Moderators

When a file is reported, I believe that the reporter(s), and the reported-on creator(s), are entitled to a response.

The lack of a response by moderators to either party is not a proper decision.

Frankly, a non-response to reporters is rude and discourages sincere reports.

Like the US Supreme Court, if you find the question less than worthy, or undeserving of a directed response, you should say so.

Sincerely,

Firstly this is nothing to do with Skyrim, but once a file is reported 99% of the time it is nothing to do with the reporter, this is not Jerry Springer.

All official formal actions taken against an account can be seen in the forum rules and warnings for every one to see.

Also if you are going to report something, provide proof not just accusations.

Moving this to Site Feedback and suggestions section as it has nothing to do with Skyrim, But does relate to site feedback

Sometimes we do send a PM, often asking for more info or to thank someone for bringing something to our attention. However, we do have a limited amount of time available and being forced to reply in detail to each and every report would take up a lot of that time. Most reports are handled quietly to cut down on the drama that seems to accompany any official action on many forums. We could make a menu type reply - pick one from a list and autoreply. But I really don't like that. I would be in favor of a simple autoreply that says something like "Thank you for your report." that would be sent to every one who made a report just to let them know it had been received - that may cut down on some of the multiple reports.

How many reports would you make if My reply was - to paraphrase the US Supreme Court's legal style. "Without merit."

Many reports are without merit. But that does not mean we don't want people making those reports. Many are things like "He insulted me and I want him banned!" with no link, no context and no real info to base a decision on. We quietly shelve those and move on. Later, we may see another report regarding the same person, and what do you know, there are already several previous reports about this guy and we take action. If we had told the first person who reported their report was 'without merit', how could we justify using that report as part of a chain of evidence later?
