Merged patch question

When I try to add a merged patch to my load order; when the game loads, it does not allow to skip the cut scenes, and it ultimately crashes. However, this does not happen when I don't make a merged patch, or unselect it. In fact, it runs quite stable. Very or no crashes. What could be the cause, and the fix for that matter?

I can tell by looking at your load order you either did not use LOOT correctly or you are still using BOSS which has not been updated since May 2014 and is GROSSLY out of date. Just by looking at your FOOK files I can tell this. You need to follow the load order instructions for FOOK on it's description page, this applies to all mods in your load order.

 

Also, are you using Wrye Flash and FO3Edit? if you are not then that is 2 more reason why you are having problems with your load order.

 

A merged patch can be daunting for someone who is not entirely familiar with how they work while a BASHED patch from Wrye flash is just about the easiest patch file you can make. The bashed patch is almost entirely automatic where as the merged patch isn't.

Thanks for your input. Currently looking at manually editing the load order.

 

The game runs fine if I don't create a merged patch.

 

I am using LOOT. Tried re-installing, always gives the same results.

 

Also have FO3 edit, will run it to look compatibility.

you NEED to fix those red mods, as long as you have red mods you are going to crash

 

my bet, you are missing a patch file most likely, or maybe even a master file but i doubt that, FO3Edit will tell you exactly what you are missing when it throws up the error, all you have to do is read what the error is and then fix it by adding what ever file it is telling you that you need

 

it MAY also be an incorrect load order for those particular patches, make sure the main ESM & ESP project beauty files are above any patches

"CrowdedCities_v2.esp" is required for "CrowdedCities, RefurbishDLC - patch.esp". Your game should not start at all.

 

Not crashing with a merged patch and then crashing with one is most likely caused by an orphan record in a list that is covered up by the last mod to change a record wins rule and is uncovered when the lists are changed by the merged patch. So you are most likely looking for an out of date compatibility patch.
