Exalerion
Hi everyone, I have the Z-Fighting or distant terrain/mountain flickering problem, and I just can't get rid of it or reduce it! I've already tried the Z-Fighting fixes on the S.T.E.P. Wiki/Forums, but it doesn't work: Reveal hidden contents Skyrim.ini[Display]fNearDistance=25.0000 SkyrimPrefs.ini[Terrainmanager]fBlockMaximumDistance=500000fBlockLevel1Distance=140000fBlockLevel0Distance=75000fSplitDistanceMult=4.0[MAIN]fSkyCellRefFadeDistance=500000.0000 I even cranked those settings up to DOUBLE those values or higher in my ini files, but it doesn't make a difference at all...I've also tried uGrids 7 instead of 5, but the only difference was a huge fps drop  I've been told that those Terrainmanager fixes on the internet will never completely "fix" the Z-Fighting issue, but for me the mountain flickering doesn't even get reduced!!! I hope someone has a more effective solution for this problem, let it be mod- or ini related...! Thanks in advance  Edited October 11, 2015 by Exalerion
MotoSxorpio
There are a few other tweaks that might work, keep reading thru the STEP guide. Z-fighting isn't just something to fix, happens to a few thousand people, but everyone else is like...what's "z-fighting"? Did I miss an episode of DragonBallZ? This happens because placement of objects is not perfect in this game engine. If you find something in VANILLA game the is off, you could submit to USKP thread over on Beth site. You can use DOF from ENB or SweetFX/REshade to possibly mask the distant z fighting. Otherwise, go in CK and move every object you have this z-fighting on one notch this way and one notch that way. Hopefully moving the object into the cell where lighting is trying to light that surface....or cast a shadow. I probably didn't say that right, but hey...I'm not a cell modder. But I've got some really cool mods in my load that I took ideas from others and retro-fitted...scripts are that hard if you keep it simple. "ondying" events are my fav. Meridia's Light my ass. Exalerion
I know the basics of Z-Fighting, but I don't want/need to go into the details, I just want to get rid of it, or reduce it... I already have an ENB with DoF enabled and I also have Vivid Clouds and Fogs. It sometimes covers a bit of the flickering, but it's still very much noticeable, the Z-Fighting is very bad! As for the CK-part, I have zero knowledge of the CK so..., that object moving to other cells thing you're talking about is not going to happen I think lol.. I'm not a modder, let alone a cell modder... :P As far as I can see, the STEP Guide only has one link for the Z-Fighting issue which doesn't help me, and that brings up this page: http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Z-Fighting
