Zachary
If you want to be a modder get used to the head-banging.Even after you've become "advanced", you'll still encounter strange bugs and glitches. As for the linked tutorial, it was not poorly written. As I look at it now, I can see how it would have helped me.If one tutorial doesn't make sense, you should look at others and not critisize the author that took her/his own time to help you newbies. Guest
I very much appreciate the writer for all her hard work and I find writers little stories fun and refreshing. However, you have to put in the effort! I quote from TY tutorial "And a working knowledge of the program, because it’s complicated:" She also left links to other very helpful tutorials. So, just because you don't take the time to read and get frustrated.Don't be taking it out on these fine folks that make, use noob's, modding life easer. Apoxc
Trying to learn something is hard enuff, Most stuff is Written likes it's out of a Text Book (Teacher not included) especially if it's Half-ass written and the writer think he's a comedian--I dont kno how many times I've read a Tutorial or alike and the guy/gal starts talking about how his Dog got run over out of the blue, none the less of explaining something. ( hehe-not really but you know what I mean) Im asking, I know there are thousands of you out there that can actually Write This Better and include some screenshots. It's fine you know how the program works but If you dont know how to Teach please leave the writing to an actual Teacher Here's an idea for how Wiki should look... http://www.morrowind-oblivion.com/oblivion...od_tutorial.php You'll notice my 1st and 2nd post contains a response to almost everyone's reply before they posted it..lolzZz I cant see anywhere that it says I dont unerstand the Tut '. So. Instead of quoteing everyone, in a single reply, I'll quote myself instead and underline so those that did not comprehend what I wrote can take another look at it again. Sickleyield -- You'll notice This Post is Directed at Wiki writers' in general (and you got used as an example), I dont think you wrote all of it. Did you? Dont Take Things Out of Context (I Found me a leprechaun when I posted here) , if you want people to know your a girl; "tell them", when I did mention the fact that the writers' were possibly a guy/gal . As for me saying you are being a comedian, after Digesting this in, I mite think you are funny But when your learning something from text things like that are very distracting and it is more of an annoyance to the reader. Why should your Wiki page not be included in what im Talking About here? Do you think your page is that speacial where it does not deserve an update? Everything needs to be updated!! Also, Constructive Criticism never hurt anyone except the communist and im So sorry if I hurt your feeling's :P it was not what I was trying to do. This is why most people abandon there projects..Lack of Community Support!! Would say more but I still want to get some game time in...Peace.. chjoco15
OK apoxc. Id really like to see you right a tutorial. Its hard enough to learn all the stuff you need to know to become an 'expert' in your calling, but writing it in a way that many people understand it is a whole new thing. You can think that by writing something everybody will know what you are talking about, since you think that it is obvious what you are saying, but to newer people they dont know what your saying. Obviously sickleyield did a good job since many people are complementing how much it helped them. Hopefully im not trolling here or anything, this is just my view if you dont like it well sorry. At what point do you start contributing something?Go play the game and leave the modding to people who are willing to make a little bit of an effort.Thanks. Vagrant0
Since when did this forum become strongly associated with the wiki? Since when is lack of community support the reason for someone losing interest in their overcomplicated, poorly planned, god aweful mod? Read the mod requests section some time, most people don't even know what is vaguely possible within oblivion, with, or without a skilled modeler/animator. Atleast the small percentage of us who do mods which can be done in any reasonable time frame have somewhere to go to check how something is done. You complaining about it only shows how little you've had to use it, yeah, it could be a bit more complete in some areas, but that's mostly because those areas aren't being touched on very frequently. It's still a hell of alot better than browsing through a few dozen sites looking for information on how one small bit of scripting can be used, and finding mostly repeat information, or things not even related to the game. Let me put it simple... Be glad that there is some common place for documenting everything. If there was no wiki, most people would have to fend for themselves (like thev've had to do in the past). More to the point, if it is such a freaking problem, it's a wiki, which means that you can register and add to it. All this bitching about right way and wrong way is, as you have acknowledged, useless. If it's broken, fix it. If you don't feel like fixing it, kindly shut the hell up. And yes, for the record, while I am in one of those situations where my mod can't go any further do to nothing explaining why multiple things don't want to work, I still support those who work on the wiki as it has proved invaluable in the past, and will likely continue to do so. Switch
I think this thread has run its course (if it even had a course to begin with), and methinks a flamewar could break out if it's left much longer. Locked.
