anime is waaaaaaaay different from cartoons.

most anime are more for adults, i belive. there are ones that a extreamly violent and they swear like hell.

the streetfighter movie was anime, (not the crappy live motion one) and trust me that is not for kids.

i have an anime dvd called spriggen, its rated MA for highlevel vilence and swearing, theres so much blood in the movie!!!

some anime are made for children like pokemon and digimon etc but the good stuff is for adults.

i recomend you watch one called samurai 7, its the best. :D

He's saying that violence and swearing isn't for adults.

At least that's how I read it. Mß's sense of humor is a little...off.

Maybe, but I happen to agree with him, those who long for violence, vulgarity, and depravity usually havn't been around it long enough. Those who have, usually look for something else, or to be consumed by it. While the FCC or similar agencies may determine such content suitable only for adults, most able minded adults don't have much insterest in that content. Meanwhile children seek out that content because they see it as breaking the rules, and being more mature... This leads to further distancing from that content by adults, which is essentially the topic at hand. You don't want to show interest in something popular among children because it makes you look like a child, meanwhile children constantly show interest in more mature things because they want to look more mature. Meanwhile, a child exposed to as much violence, vulgarity, and depravity as some (the slightly odd, but still socially capable) 25-30 year olds would likely turn out to be a very screwed up individual.

Go to youtube, search for "Elfen Lied" and watch the first episode.

If that is for little kids, things sure have changed a lot since, five years ago...

Oh, yes, before you think Elfen Lied is only blood and gore, you're wrong. It has one of the best stories I've ever seen in a anime, movie, or anything else.

I know. It's one of the most gruesome anime I've ever seen. It's full of blood, gore, and even sex.

The story is good as well. Alot more mature, if that is the right word.

Edit: In fact, I believe your avatar is one of the characters, am I correct? The father perhaps?

Yep, it is. He is 'Director Kurama', who runs the examinations on the diclonii. And he is the father of Nr.35, or Mariko, yes. I chose him as my avatar because I think he is one of the best characters in the anime. Having to decide between those who he loves, or obeying Chief Kakuzawa so his daughter will be kept alive...

I keep watching Elfen Lied, time after time, since it has such a great story.

yeah elfen lied is brutal, i watched the first ep a while back, and i dont care what people say about the story, i cant watch anymore, its too violent even for me.

which is quite funny actually because when i was younger i could watch the most brutal, violent, evil sh*t and it wouldnt even phase me, but now, i find violence hard to watch.

when i was younger i saw Saving Privot Ryan, and i thought it was great, the violence diddnt effent me.

but now, i have watched it again and i find it a little disturbing in some parts, eg in the battle at the end of the movie when those guys run up to the panzer to stick the stickybombs in the catipiller tracks, but it blew up before they could set it properly, ripping them apart, i found a little disturbing.

strange aint it? but talking about anime, Samurai 7 will always be my favourite.

I know what you mean. I noticed it myself that I can't stand violence as much as now as before. Must be getting older...

Samurai7 is one of my favourites!

But the ending is kinda sad.
