Pal2alax
Hi, usually when i play skyrim with high enb i get around 30-40fps and in fallout new vegas with high enb around 35-45fps with cpu i5-3550 gpu gtx 660 ti and 8gb ram, so i decided to upgrade either cpu to i7-4790k or gpu to gtx 970 4g.so which one should i get and which one is best suited for a smoother playing ? iXenite
The rule of thumb is this. If you can only afford to upgrade one (CPU or GPU) then always upgrade the GPU. Most of your money for parts should pretty well always go to the GPU. Your CPU isn't bad to be honest, and for New Vegas it shouldn't matter if you're using an i5 or an i7. Until DX12 begins to be implemented in all games, I would say getting an i7 in general is kinda a waste if all you do is gaming. Just saying. So, long story short: get the 970. Pal2alax
Good to know, now i'm sure my gpu is causing the slow frames...hopefully everything should work good with the new gpu, thanks.
mark5916
Actually if it wasn't Skyrim, a better CPU will get you some fps more. However, in this case your i5 is more that OK, but your GPU is a bit slow. As other people mentioned above, this time you should change your GPU. This time, your lower frame-rates are because your GPU. (however, even 35-40fps are pretty fine with an GTX 660Ti)
