Ironman5000
It's with BT Plusnet unlimited fibre optic, the Plusnet router goes through a BT modem. I did get in touch with them and they are insisting there are no connectivity issues when they run tests on their end. I am sticking with the ethernet cable to avoid possible wi-fi interruptions, especially as the wireless adapter did a vanishing act from the network centre a couple weeks back (it's back now). Purr4me
"your kidding me right ? " BT( " https://www.plus.net/home-broadband/fibre/broadband-only/ " ) If you have the full package then it IS their systems software causing your drop outs...let's look at it another way so you understand me...look at anti-virus softwares, how they react to bugs, look at guards or network packages that stop all traffic due to what it thinks might be a bug? Your connecting thru their software ,,where as Windows, the one your using requires not. If that modem is hot, and your PC has it's modem drivers installed, you do not need to connect thru their software packages. but you are..IF you have the big package listed ? you can use MS web site instructions to set up your connection. on the icon shown on the task bar, select shared connections set up a broad band connection using windows and set iT as default. this will remove the spy filters causing your problems. that 's where the bug is. Purr4me
the link I provided is the result from looking up your service providers offers, you said you had them provide you with a replacement modem and have it for both phone and Internet / Broadband....there, on that site lists the packages. I read the results and can assume..."dumb" thing to do..that they installed that stuff ? but there no need for any special connectivity to log on here...none that I am aware of? it might be where you live though...? ok...Big guess here...so lets dump what I might think and get to the point...down load and use firefox browser as default. that will eliminate other things right off the bat.I have a feeling your using IE Or chrome. Ironman5000
I do use chrome as default, but tested non-functional sites with IE and Firefox too which turned out the same results, but I decided to rule out browser faults though when I found my MMOs were freezing/lagging/crashing as well. As for installation I have no clue at all, they didn't replace the modem I didn't have one in the first place (I moved into my own place recently) and wanted use of a landline phone for the cheap calls. The landline is BT so i'm guessing their modem is needed for the Plusnet router...? What was weird though, when we first set up not long after next door had a line set up and the workers disrupted the line so everything disconnected here, so I go out and tell them to sort it out which they did...but then they told me a weird thing was going on where our line or number was registered to next door but I just didn't understand at all i'm just like "whatever is it fixed then?". Plus the phone line outside is quite slack and gets knocked by a tree often, no idea if that can affect things.
Purr4me
ok, all makes sense now, your Internet is not secured "yet' so, your possibly sharing data.If so ? unknown..you need to find out. old wickedly old phone lines? tree's, loose wiring? uh yeah, this does indeed happen, weather effect this too. as far as any web links here...your not able to view there that we post? that's your browsers scriptwriting effecting that. any one should be able to log onto that web site from the link provided. Have your IP provider verify the lines are good cuz you might be paying for some one else's Internet and phone...you need to make sure. As for installation I have no clue at all, they didn't replace the modem I didn't have one in the first place (I moved into my own place recently) and wanted use of a landline phone for the cheap calls.so how are you on the net? Ironman5000
OK so i'll get on the phone to them again and check, the first bill has been taken and the amount was correct afaik but i'll double check and maybe try and get them to fix the outside line. so how are you on the net?Maybe we got lost in translation at some point possibly due to me not explaining myself very well, they didn't replace the modem as I didn't have one in the first place when I moved in - I wasn't online before this. I do now have a modem issued by them along with the router when I signed up with them  So browser scriptwriting is bugging out which stops me loading certain sites? If so how come all 3 browsers have the same result? Sometimes it's not that I can't load links/urls at all, but the connection times out and the pages functions stop working temporarily. Google has started being a bad culprit, I can do one search with a page of results but a minute later try another search and it will try loading for ages and ages but eventually complete
Purr4me
Understood I've experienced that myself sometimes
