Is premium the only way to actually download files at any kind of reasonable speed?

I can't change server (It says the others are premium) and my download is currently going at 26 kbps. The ETA is 361:46 and I'm only downloading one mod at the moment.

Please help, as waiting 6 hours for a mod is quite extreme..

I've allowed Nexus Mod Manager through my firewall, tried downloading directly from the website, all methods result in ungodly waits. Is it because I'm from Australia?

Do you get the same slow speed by using the manual download on the website?

Yes. It is for the Skyrim nexus.

Really the only thing becoming a Premium member does as far as speed goes is remove the 1024Kbps (1Mps) cap on the d/l.

 

If you're connection is not achieving 1Mbps now, then it will probably make no difference.

 

It used to matter a lot more that you also get access to dedicated "Premium-only" servers. But with the re-architecting of the Nexus to employ a commercial content distribution network (CDN), that's much less of an issue.
