JimmyS1985
A few days ago I was forced to reformat my computer since my Steam folder got corrupted. Right now I'm installing everything on a new 4tb external hard drive so I never have to redownload my games again anytime I need a reformat. Skyrim and ENBoost worked for months and months prior to the current reformat. I am not sure if I have every last driver installed for everything on my PC however I am aware that my SLI GTX 970's drivers are up to date at the current 358.50 version. A Reddit topic on the issue I'm facing did mention I may have to uninstall GeForce Experience to get the game to run properly but I haven't tried that solution to it's fullest yet. I'm preparing Skyrim for modding, I usually run about 190 mods when I play, or around that number. I think for stability's sake I need to make sure ENBoost is working before I get into the process of installing all my mods through mod organizer. Since I narrowed the problem down to ENBoost's d3d9.dll program, I have been working on this problem all morning with no results insofar. I did try installing the Injector version of the mod once and doing the ini tweaks recommended by Slothability's youtube video on the subject. While my game did start as normal, ENBoost on the top left corner was not enabled so that was a dead end for now, plus I don't like the idea of having to enable ENBoostInjector.exe everytime I sit down and play Skyrim, but I will admit it's superior to not having ENBoost enabled at all. There are lots and lots and lots of threads on this issue I'm currently facing with my PC. Is there some alternative d3d9.dll file for ENBoost that works better than the iteration of ENBoost that I am running (ENBseries 2.65)? Does anyone have any ideas on how to help me with this problem? JimmyS1985
I just tried the later version of ENBoost version 0279 and found it did not resolve the issue either. I did not do any initweaks in the enblocal file for this attempt though.
HeyYou
Dump Nvidia Experience..... that may be the cause of your issues.
JimmyS1985
I'll try that right now, I just uninstalled it so I'm going to restart the PC without Nvidia GeForce Experience installed and see if that fixes the problem.
JimmyS1985
I just tried starting the game without Geforce Experience uninstalled and enboost enabled, but once agian it CTD'd on loadup to main menu. Perhaps I should try reinstalling ENBoost to see if that enables it. Anyone running a GTX 970 do you know if the latest iteration of drivers might cause ENBoost to CTD? Prior to the reformat I had GeForce Experience installed on my PC for months and had no issues running ENBoost, Skyrim and GeForce Experience all at the same time. HeyYou
Will the game launch if you don't run the ENB?
Slothability
Dumb questions I know, but just so I can help narrow things down a bit: 1. have you tried launching without ENB installed and is there no issues on start up? 2. Are you trying to load a new game (recommended for testing) or your old saves? 3. What OS? Edited October 31, 2015 by dptheslothking

Are you trying to load a new game (recommended for testing) or your old saves? 3. What OS? As soon as I delete d3d9.dll from my Skyrim folder the game works. I'm using mod organizer, without that single file, which is the file that makes ENB work, the game runs fine just with no ENB (which is a problem in and of itself for when I get to adding my 190 additional mods to the game). It will start a new game I've tried it, I have not tried loading up my old saves yet as I think a modless clean game compared to what I had had it at which was with 190 mods installed on my last save, would not work well with trying to load up my old save. Once I get ENB installed I can start adding all the mods and I'm pretty sure my old saves will work fine. OS is Windows 8.1, although I'm considering upgrading to Windows 10 at the moment, haven't bit the bullet yet but I can do it at any time.
Slothability
You may want to give Windows 10 a go, you have 30 days to switch back to windows 8.1 I built my new PC from scratch about a month ago and immediately upgraded and Windows 10 is infinitely better than 8.1 (i'm a windows 7 users on my previous laptop). No issues with my new set up and I'm running GeForce Experience to record gameplay for the channel. My set up is: Windows 10Nvidia GTX 980 Ti (latest stable drivers through GeForce Experience)16 GB RAM I have heard that with windows 10 the Xbox DVR app conflicts with ENB but that's about it. I've definitely heard more people having issues with windows 8 + ENB than windows 7 or 10. You don't have much to lose and the upgrade doesn't take long, try it out as a last resort.
