Wafflezs
Helly there all! I'm having quite a bit of trouble finishing up a custom weapon I've put together. I'm making a kingdom hearts version of the buster sword (for those who care) and i can import the sword into the game just fine. But when i start up oblivion all I see is my sword, as detailed as i left it, just completely missing textures. I have the textures i used to make it in Maya in the correct place, but it would appear i need to assign textures in Nifskope. I've never used Nifskope before so i was wondering if anyone would be able to A.) Help walk me through this, B.) some sort of tutorial on how to get whatever ready in Nifskope to put into oblivion, or C.) I can give someone who knows what they are doing the files and they could do it for me (not the best option since i want to learn how to do this, but at the same time it would go much faster and i could release my weapon sooner.) Anyway i hope someone out there can help. Choa! ~Wafflezsp.s. Ive added some screenshots of my problem.
jamochawoke
Open up NifSkope Go under the first NiNode (the scene root) and open it up. There will be a list of things connected to that node as you've seen in your screenshot. There will be NiTriStrips or NiTriShapes (this is your 3D data) and when you open them up you will find a child under it called "NiTexturingProperty". Open that up and it should have a child called "NiSourceTexture". If you look at the data you will find a field called "File Name File Path *" Where the * is you double click and put the path of your texture, such as this example for a mask I am using "textures\armor\japanese\mask5.dds" without quotes. Make sure it uses "textures\" as the path as that is a path that the Oblivion engine will recognize. If those children are not under NiTriStrips or NiTriShapes you will have to manually put them in. To do that right click on your main node and go to Block -> Insert. Then choose the NiTexturingProperty and NiSourceTexture property. You will then have to parent the NiTexturingProperty to the NiTriShapes/NiTriStrips by right clicking on it and selecting "Copy" or "Copy Branch" and then right clicking on the NiTriShapes/NiTriStrips you need to texture and clicking Paste. This will parent it correctly. Do the same with the NiSourceTexture except make it a child of NiTexturingProperty. You can then edit them from there. Wafflezs
Actually after my first real test to see if everything is tip top, Ive noticed that it is no longer casting or recieving shadows or any shader at all for that matter. at first when i was only able to get one or 2 textures working correctly the parts that were texturized were working quite well, but as a while no longer. I guess ill start off by checking all my textures, something could be keeping it from being a non static object perhaps.. Edit...Nevermind, in my sleep deprived state i forgot to toss in the _n.dds files Durp. All is well now. thank you again.
