Your own faction/base

Hey people,

 

I've been looking through the mods for something like this but I cant find anything that looks like this, apart from the many many houses/fortresses/etc. Essentially, I would love to see a mod that allows you to start your own faction, get a base, etc. It would be more awesome if you could "build" a base from the ground up with upgrades (ie you start with buying the land, then gather money or resources for walls, etc etc.). Then of course you should be able to manage your faction and send members out on recruitment drives or missions (a la Assassin's Creed Brotherhood?). This is something I think would be awesome. Now, let the flaming begin! :D

 

EDIT: Just saw the Evolving Society thread (http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/83048-the-evolving-society-mod/) which I guess is what I described, still keeping up my thread for advice on other mods though.

There's nothing to flame about :P. The only thing this requires is finding a mod that already does it or people that'll make more than just a few interiors and dump a castle before they realize there's more to it and quit the project after a few weeks. So far you've got nothing impossible there yet :P. Lolz btw that you post almost exactly after 4 years, I made my first after about 4.5 ;).

The only thing this requires is finding a mod that already does it or people that'll make more than just a few interiors and dump a castle before they realize there's more to it and quit the project after a few weeks. Well, I havent found anything yet thats actually playable. And it's been 4 years? lol.

The trouble with the wasteland defense/Real time settler/Feng shui mods is that the game engine of fallout had a few tweaks and updates build upon the oblivion one. It also offers vanilla scripting possibilities that we'd love to have seen in oblivion. So an exact same implementation is impossible as it'll bloat your savegame to an extend you can't play it anymore. The evolving society is a mod the closest you'll get to a similar implementation, but you'll have to wait for a while until it's done. This is because OBSE functions are actually added on request of the author and have to be implemented to function in the mod afterwards. So shortly said, OBSE does allow a similar implantation, but there are a but lesser people are capable of it or know about their implementation and are working on it right now.

 

What oblivion can offer right now (without OBSE) is the possibility to place things at pre-determined positions or pre-set values. (the evolving society allows it to be placed everywhere on the island.) In essence your idea is possible and doesn't need anything of the above-stated. If you're looking on placing whatever items wherever you want, the chance of your idea getting worked on is getting less :P.

 

Breaking down your request in parts:

 


  •  
  • You'll have your own faction
  • You buy your own land
  • You'll build up your base. You start with a building, then you can get walls/more buildings etc.etc.
  • Recruit members
  • Let them help/do missions.

 

Do know that there's a difference in 'sending them on missions' for money. (which is something which is easily done). And fulfilling any vanilla quests, which could be a mod on its own already as that's not done in a short time :P.

Dang, this would be an awesome idea, if i knew how to make mods, i'd make this in a heatrbeat.

 

What i'd do, is like how in Midas Magic mod, you need resources to make spells, there should be something like that, in every buyable home you can make a spell, that you go out to an open area, and cast, it will make one room, and you can also type in the name of your faction, and the type of faction it is, Stealth, Magic, Fighting, and then you can choose what kind of things happen with it, so say you make it a magic faction, you can choose what type of quests will be offered, what spells the people there use/sell (should be great with magic mods, like necromancy) if a warrior, what type of armor, weapons, and quests they offer, and for Stealth, whether it's assassinations, spying, or thievery, and the tyupe of quests offered, and if your faction is Evil, good, let's people visit, only let's members visit, stuff like that, and it would be a great way to make a new arena, then you can choose what you fight at what level, so say it's an arena like the colloseum in ancient rome, there's a couple men, and a lot of animals to fight, or, it's one on one, and you can view fights, but you choose what fights what, so if you wanted it man, vs man, or beast vs. beast, or man vs beast, you could do that.
