Thread_Whisperer
I was not sure if anyone here knew about this or not so simply figured I would post a copy of what I put on the modDB site regarding the Project. So here it is. Comment if you wish to, but I am used to not getting many either so don't feel obligated. Also be forewarned that when I came up with this story I was not aware how much lore surrounded Elder Scrolls and so the story does not stay true to the lore, but I think it developes in a way that it can blend with it to some extent.... Secret of the Nerevarine (commonly called SotN) has been my child and wife for the past 12 months. I have invested over 1700 hours in the project so far (NOT including web time) and have estimated the time left for the project at around 1,980 hours. SotN is based on my very first Character that I played in Morrowind for XBox. Her name was Roryanna Rethan. Because I am a roll player from the golden age of P&P D&D I created an entire background for Roryanna and developed her future based on that past. That future IS SotN. Dagoth Ur has fallen, in fact several years ago, since his death Morrowind has changed...but for the better. The evil magic's that sustained the blight and the death that surrounded Red Mountain has gone. Nature has once again been set loose upon ALL of Morrowind and new life sprung up almost immediately. The citizens of Morrowind have even sent for their children who had been shipped away to the mainland because of fear for their lives while Dagoth Ur held such power over the land. Families have reunited and things looked good for Morrowinds future.... But then something happened that once again shook the foundations of the Island, and again fear raced through its people. Vivec was Murdered! Slain in his own temple with no sign of any struggle. The temple was quick to determine that foul magic had been used, old and evil of purpose. They claimed that the Telvanni had done so and almost at once a small war broke out in the city of Vivec. With Vivecs death came the loss of his powers that held the prison moon over the temple canton. It crashed into the sea and killed many inside but a few managed to escape. The Telvanni were run out of Vivec and soon after the Imperials took control of the temple and at the suggestion of some of the temple officials who were now in charge they began to force not just the Telvanni back on the Island but ALL the Dunmer people. Magic too was banned and the mages guild was disallowed it's rights on Morrowind, They had also become the enemy, and the Empire was not about to let them stay around. All the mage guild lands were possessed by the Empire and all mages who were not captured, fled. But they could not leave their once beloved land of Morrowind and so they fled to the Telvanni and through their mutual oppression began a truce, of sorts. The Temple was not satisfied with just running them out and they began to devise a way in which they could suppress the magic in the land, and before long they had achieved their goal! They discovered a way to block the energies that were used by magic’s and began to hide obelisks that were enchanted with the power to do this, all across Morrowind. Soon they had the land covered with these hidden pillars and magic’s became something that were no longer of any use to anyone....save a very select few.... So it was, in the brief years after Dagoth Ur fell, and the Nerevarine Roryanna Rethan had saved the land from the great evil. But other rumors had begun to take hold in those years as well...rumors that could disrupt the Island enough to cause a massive racial war unlike any Morrowind had ever seen. The rumors that the Nerevarine was in fact NOT Nerevar Reborn, but was an imperial spy sent to betray the Dunmer people and gain a stronger hold on the lands of Morrowind for the Empire! Now there is little remaining that keeps the Island at peace and once again fear is in the minds of the people. Will you be able to abate those fears? Can you discover the truth? Can YOU reveal....The Secret of the Nerevarine!!! That's it. More information can be found on my site regarding the project. The maps that are viewable in the projects section of the Graphics side of my site are no longer valid to location. Island size etc has not changed just where they sit in the world has, thanx to the TESFaith Cell moving program. They now sit to the East of the TR Project so that SotN will be compatible with it. Anyway Take care all,and happy modding! TW :construction:
Pikeman85
Sounds interesting, though I think the Telvanni would rather jump in bed with a guar than join with the Mages guild, but still, sounds like fun, and I can't wait till it's out to play :) I just hope it's better than some of the mods I've seen :(
AdamNeko
It sounds like a very complex task to me. Good luck to you on that. I honestly look forward to seeing this one completed, and would probably have as much fun playing it as the original MW.
Thread_Whisperer
Thank you both so very much for taking the time to comment! Very much appreciate it. Glad you like the general idea and look forward to it. RE: hoping its better then some others... -- LOL Me too!! I have gone to great length's to try and make very certain that it will at the very least, match the quality Bethesda gave us in regards to looks, and I am trying to also insure that it will give us a better depth in NPC's and story then what we were originally given. That is the main reason for the time frame of this projects construction. So hopefully it will be worth waiting for, AND getting. ;) RE: Telvanni and remnants of the Mage Guild. -- They aren't bed partners in any way, that is for certain. But they do have a mutual goal and both bring different "tools to the workbench" so to speak and therefore have entered a psueado truce to get to the bottom of it. But there are still things that the disbanded Mage guild, or the Telvanni may have you doing that require a lot of stealth ;) they may be "working together" but the trust level would be like that of a worm and early bird trying to stay out of the rain under the same leaf :D RE: Seeing it completed and having just as much fun as Original MW. -- I am with you on both! LOL but I change the "probably will have more fun" to Hopefully it will be more fun, at least for some anyway. B) Again Thank you both very much for the compliments, concerns, and comments! Is nice to know there are interested folks in what I am doing. Take care and happy modding! :) TW :construction:
