What's a fomod?

I normally put stuff like meshes and textures and the .esp files into the data folder. But many mods are "fomods" these days, aren't they! Like "XP32 Maximum" skeletons, for example. They seem to have dozens of folders, and I have no idea where they all go. It's just confusing. Is there any place I can go to learn about fomods that's simple and straight forward? Thanks in advance for your help.

FOMOD's are mod manager ready mod files, usually that include a lot of options that the manager helps guide you through. You can still install them manually, other than the particular packaging (lots of folders inside lots of folders) there's nothing different about their installation than any other mod. Read the readme and/or the description for installation instructions. For a mod like XP32, for example, you'd be installing only one of the skeleton files included in one of the folders depending on what other mods you have installed or are planning on installing; the manager makes it easy to zero down to exactly which skeleton you'd need based on your answers to a quick series of questions but you can still install it manually if you're familiar or more comfortable with that method.

Hello, THere is usually a Fomod at the top, then underneath there are 'individual' no FOMAD installs, that represent each of the Choices th FOMAD would offer in Mod Manager Proggie,..My idea, is to USE the FOMAD, BUT also download the 'no fomad' for the precise options or option combo you want, then for istance use the 4k txtures from the fomad and just the Information of what files to use from the non-fomad! The contents of the second zip file, will tell you, what files to use (and only use), from the FOMAD zip file.. Now to go see if that works :)
