stebbinsd
The whole point of adopting a child, from a roleplaying perspective, is to care for him so he doesn't have to care for himself. So, how come I can leave my kid unattended, taking my housecarl with me (and not having a spouse) and he does just fine? Being a parent should be a HUGE responsibility! It should require more than just having a room for them to sleep in. Here's my request for a mod: Either your housecarl or spouse has to be present with your kids. If your kids are living in Hearthfire house, your steward will also suffice. If anyone other than your spouse is left to care for the kid, then you also need to provide some COOKED food (raw food doesn't count) for your kid to eat. Your kid will consume one pound of cooked food per day.If even one day goes by with either one of those rules broken, the government of your resident hold comes in and takes the kids away, shipping them to Honorhall Orphanage because you're an incompetent parent. To get them back, AND to be allowed to adopt anyone except street urchins in the future, you have to A) pay a fine of 1,000 for each kid you adopted, B) attend a 20 minute lecture, and C) pass a test that you would only know the answers to if you listened to the lecture (so, you can't just position your character int he room and come back 20 minutes later; you have to literally sit there and listen). That'll teach you to leave your kids unattended, eh? Any seconds?
Zero5906
I agree with this! There should be a point to adopting children...to care for them, not just make your home less empty!Maybe the player would require to have to go shop every so often to buy food and drinks to have yourself/steward/spouse make food for your child. This could also tie in with vampires in case you have a mod for vampire children, have maybe vampire cattle/meat/blood potions to suffice their hunger. There is alot of details can could be done with more about taking care about children, not just a roof over head and alone...
majesticmadman
Where as I fully agree with this, for me it would just be useless having children, if it's gonna cost me so much when they do nothing. But what if they had like a chore list, where you can send them into town to do shopping (You select what sort of thing so like Weapon>Sword>"Amount of Swords" then you gave them a certain amount of Gold and they buy the most expensive thing with that gold selection. But you make it so they can buy all sorts of things, but they actually leave the house, and come back a reasonable amount of time later.Because for me they should have some form of helpfulness

Go to that thread and contribute your ideas. And please be specific as to exactly what you mean by "broader." There are only three crafting skills; how broad can you get? 4kzero
Thats a good idea! maybe another "Immersive" mod could help with that  Another thing i would love is the ability to make then a kind of a follower. i mean, as a master thief that i am on my story, i would love to teach my little sofie how to "borrow" stuff from other people's pockets :laugh:but i think that would be too much to ask
