Marcus Wolfe
This post consists (or is supposed to consist) of mods that both add realism and fun/purpose to the game. For example:1.Impressedness: if you wear bad clothes in the city, people like you less. If you wear good clothes, people like you more. I am in good need of an excuse to wear fine clothes, and not my armor.2. Intimidation: On the other hand, I might use my armor and my hammer to scare the crap out of people. And lesser beings. Those goblins will fear me!!!!3. CSI factor: By that, I mean one should be able to tell how somebody died by looking at their corpse.4. Facial hair: My Nord should have a beard. And so should most Orcs.5. Better combat: When I hit a guy with my Hammer, he should not come back for more so quickly. Alternatively, that axe wound he gave me might cause me to bleed to death. Of course, he's not going anywhere with that broken leg, and blood loss is better than the decapitation he gave my buddy.6. Better riding: Those are some awkward controls. They may start out that awkward, but may later seem a little more natural, like real horse riding. Plus, more intervals of speed (please make this applicable to Wargs).7. Combative allies: Get outta my way, you don't want to get hit over the head with this thing!!!8. Mini-adrenaline rushes for all races: In real life, humans and animals get adrenaline whenever their in danger (ie when they've been hit) I'm talking only 1/4 of the Redguard Adrenaline rush.9. Insects: Small ones. Ants. Centipedes. Spiders. Catapillars. ETC10. More realistic AIs: This one's a no brainer!!!I hope everybody enjoys this post!! 92% of teens have moved onto rap. If you are part of the 8% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this into your signature.
ninja_lord666
I thought it has been stated many times: realism is NOT good. Now to rip appart your post: 1. This would be too difficult. Not EVERY npc would feel the same way. If you were walking around in your high class clothes strutting past a begger, he deffinately wouldn't be impressed. He would be angry. He would despise you for so rudely flaunting your wealth in front of him. Also, the rich wouldn't be impressed either. They would feel in different. Why should they be impressed when they're wearing the same thing? 2. Intimidation isn't too bad of an idea, but might be difficult to implement 3. WAAAAAAY too difficult. They've made entire games devoted to this. How do you expect someone to make a mod of it? Also, very unrealistic. Cyrodiil is in about the middle ages. They weren't very medically smart back then. They used medical books that Aristotle wrote! If you were in a comma, they'd call you dead. They sure as hell wouldn't be able to hold up a crime investigation. 4. This one I'll give you. Facial hair would make the game more diverse. Why is everyone clean shaven? 5. This is being worked on: here 6. I'm assuming here you're talking about a mod that does exist? I rarely use my horse, but when i do, it's just to get from one place to the other quicker. I'm not trying to navigate through a dense swamp or anything. I'm just riding up the road. 7. I'm not sure what you mean by this...allies that fight? Allies do fight. 8. Wouldn't that overpower things? If you want adrenaline rush, take a redguard. Don't take another race, and then cry about not having the redguard power. Next, you'll take a redguard then cry about not having the shield power from the bretons. You might as well just give all the races all the powers. Make the game even more bland. That would sure give the game more fun! 9. fps killer, all those scripts running would cause the game to take lagging to a whole new level. 10. (See #3) Agian, people have made entire games devoted to making realsitic interactions with npcs. It's called the sims. I hope you learned your lesson. Vagrant0
Most of the things you want, are things other people have been saying since before Oblivion was released. Those that aren't being worked on just cannot be done without ripping apart the game engine and building your own. I considder myself to be faily capable with scripting and AI, atleast more capable than most. There is only so much that can be done through scripting and packaging, and most of what can be done doesn't work outside very specified conditions. The AI is little more than a confuzzled pathfinding procedure, there isn't any radiance. You should probably play the game a bit more, or atleast have some familiarity with what is and is not possible within the game before spending your time on these little lists. Beyond that, games can't meet the detail available in reality, there aren't enough programmers, and no computer in existance (not even a full room of Deep Blue clones networked) would be able to run it all. I suggest taking another look at reality, just to see how complicated everything is. My intention here is not to flame, or make you feel bad, but rather inform you that there are many things that simply cannot be done.
Povuholo
I thought it has been stated many times: realism is NOT good. You are right. Realism is not always good. But that's not always the case. Some stuff is nice, some isn't. Should Bethesda have left out the radiant A.I. and let all the npc's stand at one spot? No. The A.I. could've been better but.. No. You don't have to talk to everyone requesting realism as if they are stupid. 'Hope you learned your lesson' (See #3) Agian, people have made entire games devoted to making realsitic interactions with npcs. It's called the sims.If I kill a bandit who flies over the ledge we stood on, and falls right in front of his still living friend, it would be nice if he reacted. This is not a stupid request. 1. Morrowind had something like this. With expensive clothing npc's liked you more. But like Ninja_Lord said, it's probably too difficult. You also can't put fortify personality enchantments on all clothes because then you won't be able to enchant them yourself. 3. Not really like that, but someone (An update for an existing mod, I don't remember which one) is doing something which makes bandits start looking around the dungeon if they find a dead friend. (That's the answer to question 10 then too) 4. Nords with beards, Nords with beards extra fix, Bearded people, 6.6. I'm assuming here you're talking about a mod that does exist? I rarely use my horse, but when i do, it's just to get from one place to the other quicker. I'm not trying to navigate through a dense swamp or anything. I'm just riding up the road. That's what you do. Not everyone does that. So... Fast Horse (Allows a horse to gallop faster than usual for two minutes, and then slows down). There are also some faster horse turning mods out there. 7. I'm not sure what you mean by this...allies that fight? Allies do fight. He means that allies don't get in your way when you fight, so you don't hit them by accident. I don't think anything can be done about this, you'll just have to be careful. He's talking about an actual adrenaline rush, not just the adrenaline rush power from the redguard. So an adrenaline rush which occurs when the player is in danger (has low health for example and is attacked), instead of a greater power.I don't know if it can be done, but maybe with OBSE. Marcus Wolfe
Thank you Povuholo, you saved me from that Troll ninjalord. You completely understood me and read between the lines. now, does anybody actually have reality-related mod ideas? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Listen to Heavy Metal and the Grunge Gods will thank you
ninja_lord666
I'm not a troll, I respond to everything if I have something to say. The more you post, the more likely it is I'll disagree with you. The less you post, the less likely it is I'll disagree with you. As for what Povuholo said, yes, I did take it a little too far. I have low tolerance for people I disagree with. As for reality mod ideas, yes, what pov said about the bandits. I hand't thought of that when I was answering you. It is realy annoying when I'm sneaking through a dungeon, and I see two bandits talking. I sneak up to one, slash him in the back, and he falls over dead. The other watches his friend die, then walks away. WTF!?
chris 07
I never get close enough to kill one bandit by sneaking. anyways with the nord with beard there are mods for that you know. You do know...right?
Marcus Wolfe
Yeah, I know. This post is supposed to be about ideas for realism mods that have only a positive effect. Unfortunately, it seems to have turned into something else. Everybody else stop saying things about me and give me ideas, curse you all!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Listen to Heavy Metal and the Grunge Gods will thank you

All the realism ideas have already been said by you, or somebody else. From the majority of your mod requests I can see that you haven't modded yourself. Have you? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Listen to Heavy Metal and the Grunge Gods will thank you You must spend a long time typing those. Azotus
A lot of people press this subject on realism. Creators have worked for hours on end trying to make things realistic, but no too realistic. Imagine if Oblivion is as real life is. You are on top of a roof and you shoot some loser in the side of the head with a bow. You arn't seen, but there is a person next to him that freaks out and tells a guard. Now your stuck in a black costume on the top of a roof with a bow in your hands. Seeing that you want it sooooo realistic, you cant instantaniously switch to a sword the size of your body. So you're pretty much caught red handed. Also, you would carry only about 200lbs at MOST. People running around with 500lbs on their backs and still being able to swing a battle axe is just physically impossible. Now if you want to change the unrealistic standards that we have grown to love... Go ahead. You not going to get many people on your side however.
