Mkkmkmk10
Hey! Reason for this topic: I like playing Skyrim, and sometimes also to like kill Jarls and stuff, because I feel like some type of assassin xD But after I kill, lets say Jarl Balgruff in Whiterun, the city just follows up as normal. I would really like something more to happen. Maybe if I could take over the hold, maybe set up my own council and declare war agaimst Falkreath? Idk. Just something where you can get diplomatic and political creative. The idea (sport version): I would like to have a mod which is owning a hold and the diplomatic part about it. The mod idea is inspired by the game Mount and Blade: Warband. The idea: Now what I would like in mod, is that you can somehow optain a hold/city. I don't care if Its either building or conquering the city. After you become jarl of the city, I would like the heavy diplomatic part to come in play. First you should get a council, where you hire your most trustworthy companions. Then Its time for the diplomacy towards the other holds. In this part you should be able to take part in the civil war, either as: neutral, stormcloak, imperial or your own side. It is now your time to fulfill your task of being a jarl! Ideas for The features of this mod: -acquire a city -Create a council with councilmembers of your choice -administrate your city (taxes etc.) -hire guards/soldiers for your hold/city/faction -interactions with the other jarls (diplomacylike) -be able to declare war against the other holds -either lead your troops into combat against an enemy hold or send them out with your general etc. -Choose side in the civil war (neutral, your own side, stormcloak or imperial) -The other cities should be conquerable and you should be able to name an npc of your choice as jarl to that hold or take the hold under your own full command (like in Mount and Blade). -The abillity to send your soldiers out to complete minor quests created in this mod. -The other holds should have some sort of trust meter towards you, so that if you seem friendly the meter should go up with the appropriate jarls and down if you seem enemy. If your trust go high with a specific hold, that hold should be considered allied but if it goes the opposite way, they should declare war on you, and maybe try to siege your city/cities. This could be an idea: Increasing friendlyness: Declaring war against a typical hold Trading routes? Completing minor bandit/forsworn/draugr etc. quests which has influence on that hold (maybe a minor quest thingy which could boost influence with the other holds from the start) Joining the 'right' side of the war. Some type of gifts. (Maybe gold or something) Becoming allied with one of the holds allies, for example becoming allied with Riften would increade relation with Windhelm etc. Decreasing friendlyness: Declaring war in general (If neutral or starting your own empire) Capturing holds (again if not neutral or having own Empire) Declaring war on their allies Becoming allied with their enemy -maybe even more ideas.. If any of you reading this and have something to add, do not hesitate to let me know. If I think it would be a good idea, I will put them on the list. (You never know, sometimes a very skilles modgroup might come by and take the idea to a task) -tip: I read ALL comments! So don't even feel like your comment will get lost because I will read and most likely respond to them!- Likely mods: I have tried some mods which have a little bit of my suggestions. The list of mods I've tried: Become Jarl of Ivarstead: Good mod, but with a little too long start quest for me. I liked that you kind of escape Riften's prohibition, although that was kind of the only REAL political thing that was cool. The oppertunites are rather short in the end, and I really think the mod is in lack of a lot of more political descisions and stuff like that Become the High King of Skyrim mod: Hmm.. My thoughts about this mod is really mixed. alot of the features in the mod had ups and downsides. I liked that you could assign your companions as council members, nobles, heroes and rangers. This made it feel like I was a true political lord.. But here the downside came in: The council was a bit.. Useless. As I recognize, the only thing they could do was that the general could hire soldiers, one of the others could set taxes and the last one could assassinate people. I also liked that you could appoint new jarls for the holds. It was really cool. But.. It seemed like it was really buggy. I killed the old jarls, so I could replace them with my own companions, but the new ones wouldn't should up in their cities. Then I found out that you could call all the jarls up for a meeting and once again I started to like the mod... Until I found out that you couldn't do anything at all at the meeting other than sending them back. Dissapointing. Mods I know about which should have some of the features: Helgen reborn Build your own city Now what I have read about these mods, it looks like they're both low on the diplomatic events and they look more like focusing on your own city instead of the diplomacy. If I'm wrong, then you can write a comment to me. Maybe even tell me a little bit of details about the mod's diplomacy features. For modders: If any experienced modder(s) is/are reading this and maybe taking the whole idea to a reality, then the only things i request is that in your "credits" part I just want a little notification of my name (Mkkmkmk10) and also that you either comment or pm me that you're going to make best mod ever.. xD. If you could do this, I would be so thankful. But even more thankful if you actually try to make this mod. I belive it could be fantastic. Maybe some of the suggested features are either impossible or really hard to make, and I would understand that, and that might be the reason for why there's no real diplomacy toward the other holds in the mods listed above? Idk. But if you would be willing to take the mod idea to a reality, then you have my full support with all that I can provide. Unfortunatly i suck at scripting, but if you want to complete the mod, because you think good of the idea, then you can also try to make me learn some basics of scripting so that I won't be THAT useless xD. (I'm a quick learner, so it shouldn't be too bad for me to learn). Otherwise, I can always provide help with new ideas and replacement ideas if some of my current ideas are impossible to make, and if I like the mod's outcome, then I will donate. The amount depends. But at least say 20$. But can 'easily go up to 40-50$. The last thing I want to say is thank you for your reading. I know it was alot of Words http://www.loverslab.com/uploads/emoticons/default_biggrin.png If you play either Mount and Blade: Warband or Civilization, you might be able to see that some of the ideas of mine came from there. http://www.loverslab.com/uploads/emoticons/default_smile.png
Lisnpuppy
Well I can't help with that. However if you are a quick learner then here is a lovely new thing that might help- http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/70883/? Regardless of the fate of your request, never hurts to learn more, right? Good luck.

4Gargoyle4
It would be extremely challenging to make a hold that already exists your own. Perhaps you could take an abandoned fortress or something and set up a hold there (with an appropriate quest line of course), or have something you can build. However, it doesn't seem to difficult to add a unique quest line, an ability to hire people, a council, and some radiant quests. The diplomacy and war bits may be slightly more difficult, but they still seem doable. My idea on this would be simultaneously creating multiple sites for soldiers of the opposite faction to spawn, and increasing the bounty in those holds. That would enhance the feeling of it, without actually ruining the game play. I'm not quite sure as of now how to best implement the faction alliance bit, but I'm sure there's a very simplistic way to go about doing it. I specialize in quest building and writing, dialogue, organization / team management, character building, and scripting. I definitely won't be able to build this mod by myself, but if anyone else would be willing to help, I would be more than happy to work to bring it into existence. Either way, very nice idea -- sounds like a ton of fun.

I know very little about scripts, but I'm a learner.
tnu
Why stop at a hold? Why not do what the Ideal Masters did and become immortal thorugh yo ur own plane of existance? Your own plane of OBlivion or Aetherious perhaps?
