Interesting... Downloaded new f4se, copied over the new f4se_1_9_4.dll and the new f4se_steam_loader (for grins and giggles...)

Launched with f4se_loader.exe and got

You are using a newer version of Fallout than this version of F4SE supports.

If this version just came out, please be patient while we update our code.

In the meantime, please check http://f4se.silverlock.org for updates.

Runtime: 1.9.4

F4SE: 0.2.8

I am confused. (I am also mot playing Fallout tonight, looks like.)

Never mind, re-downloaded, re-copied, dunno... everything now works as advertised (however, I DID do some checking and all version numbers seemed to be OK on the DL that did not work... I'd've saved them for you, but... troubleshooting a one-off? Nahhh...)

For people having issues with it saying you are running the wrong version of F4SE, you might want to try:

One thing I did a while ago is set the permissions for my steamapps\common, Documents\my games\Fallout4, and AppData\Local\Fallout4 folders (as well as all subfolders/files) to Full Control for Users(xxxxx\Users).
It means I have never had to run xEdit/CK/f4se/Fallout 4 in administrator mode, and never have to worry about old log files blocking new ones from being created.
Funnily enough, the last update to Steam seems to have something similar:

Added “Repair” option for Steam Library Folders to fix Windows user access rights
as seen here. If you want to use that instead of mucking around yourself:
1) Steam -> Settings -> Downloads
2) Select "Steam Library Folders"
3) Right click on the location with FO4* -> "Repair Library Folder"
*there may be more than 1 depending on the number of Steam folders you have, you can do all of them if you want
You'll still have to manually change permissions for your Documents\my games\Fallout4 folder (where your save games and main inis are, if you have a non-standard location), as that is where the f4se logs are stored.
Anyone who finds this info useful can freely share it (including the readme/troubleshooting sections on the f4se site, if you guys find it useful), the less posts I see complaining about f4se (or a f4se mod) not working right the happier I'll be. If this doesn't fix your problem, I'm sorry I couldn't help.

Whenever i start up f4se from NMM i get an error code stating that my expected game version is below my actual game version. anyone know what's going on? i have every plug in disabled minus the official ones from bethesda.

Same thing is happening to me.

I figured out what my problem was. It was a mod that uses Script Extender. LooksMenu needed to be updated for me. I updated it and now no more error message. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12631 I also downloaded the update patch to the LooksMenu Customization Compendium for good measure. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/14171

So if anyone else who uses LooksMenu is having this problem, updating the mod is the solution. If its happening to you and you do not use LooksMenu, then perhaps take a look at any other mods that you use that rely on Fallout 4 Script Extender. They may need to be updated as well.

ANY Mod using F4SE seems to need an update.

.. I just don't remember which of my many mods has F4SE...

EDIT: Maybe not all, only things that place .dll mods in the F4SE Folder. Just removed all of them and F4SE Launchers correctly.

I installed the new f4se, everything is working perfectly.

I guess it depends on what mods using f4se you have.

I don't mean to sound like a dumbass, but could somebody please tell me where this stuff goes? I had F4SE working previously but can't find anything similar in my old files to the stuff in the new release.

The ReadMe file only refers to the scriptdump and ba2extract applications. The SRC file includes folders for Common, Fallout4, and Zlib, and nothing inside of these seems to match up to what I had previously placed in my Steam common directory or my MyGames folders. I suppose mostly I'm hoping I can get a rundown from somebody on what all this new stuff is.

Hey guys, I got a really weird issue I don´t understand. I downloaded and unpacked the newest version of F4SE and replaced the old files. When I started the .exe directly I had no problems/warning popups playing with F4 rutime 1.9.4...

Now I edited the paths for F4SE in my ModOrganizer but when I try to launch I get a popup saying the game might not work properly because I´m not using 1.8.7..

Anybody knows how to fix that?

Check your mods, you might have an out-of-date F4SE mod (such as LooksMenu, I know it gives it's own error message like that).
