Do I need to run fo4 from the f4se_loader.exe every time I launch the game or can I do it from NMM?

You can set NMM to launch using F4SE (the little down arrow to the right of the "Launch Fallout4" button). And yes, you do have to launch using F4SE every time if you want F4SE to work.

Do I do launch custom fo4? if so, when I do that it says 'No custom launch command has been set'

No, there should be a "Launch F4SE" option. If there isn't, you didn't install f4se right.

Okay, it's entirely possible I'm just stupid, but I followed the instructions for installed F4SE but there's no F4SE_Loader.exe anywhere. I can't find it in the archive, either. What am I missing?

Never mind, I'm an idiot. It was right there on the main page: DON'T USE ANYTHING FROM THE MICROSOFT STORE to unarchive. I used 7Zip and it was there. However, even after installing, I'm not seeing "Launch F4SE" in the NMM drop-down. Oh, wait, I restarted NMM and it was there.

Cool.

I am getting a very strange error every time I try and load F4SE, it only happens with F4SE since I updated. All of the rest of the script extenders seem to be working fine. When I try and run F4SE, if steam is not running, I get a message that I need to install a steam component for this version of windows, If I tell it to install steam locks up. If steam is already running the F4SE brings up my steam store and not my library and Fallout 4 never runs. I thought it might be a steam issue, but the other Script Extenders for my new Vegas, Fallout 3 and Skyrim still work just fine. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Steam and Fallout 4, everything worked fine until I started using F4SE again. Then I got the exact same errors.

I'm getting an instant CTD every time I start f4se_loader.exe. Earlier today it worked absolutely fine. I didn't change *anything* in the mean time.

What should I do?

Game version is 1.9.4

F4SE version is 0.3.0

/edit

Disabled on-access scanner in Avast, and it now works.

Again, I didn't change anything there. Avast had always been installed.

@expired6978 :

The 0.3.2 release contains the 0.3.1 source files :smile:

Did you see the 2 submissions I made to the mail list some time ago ? Yes I am fishing for an answer...

Are we far from some functions like cloning, messageboxex and getting/setting name of a form? :smile:

Last I checked message boxes were part of the FO4 engine already. Unless you mean message boxes with dynamic text set at call time. And I think I saw a SetName function in the last F4SE update 0.4.0 on the base Form class.
