TES V: what do you want to see?

Hi first time poster,

Wow hard on the head just read through all that some good points brought up (some admitadly repeated lol) but after picking up this game again for the third or fourth time now and playing it, I find myself longing to be able to run Daggerfall again to get the feeling of the backstory and all, I still have my original disks only problem is yeah it's like 12 years old, and a real *censored* to try and get to run properly on a newer system. It did however have a great deal of the features people were asking for earlier in the thread.

A remake with the oblivion engine would be amazing (but yeah as was mentioned earlier you would probably need some sort of super-computer to do it). Also it would bring some of the lore of the TES series to the younger generation of gamers just picking up on oblivion/morrowind, (that being said battlespire was umm lame yeah don't even bother).

Barring that if they didn't want to tread over ground they'd already covered. I think something either during the reign of Uriel Septim the VII in another area of tamriel would be great to bring about some of the lore feel. Or even cooler would be something based around the time of St. Alessia's campaign would be darn cool. I've alway been a huge fan of the series, the lore and backstory they've built it on is so intricate and involved, it would be great to explore some more of it, especialy with a little more of the freedom and openess available in the earlier titles in the series.

1. Scripted Sequence. Yes, too much of it makes the game look crappy, but when it doesn't exist at all (like in Oblivion) it's not good aswell. Just imagine, you enter a dungeon and suddenly a monster breaks the doors out as you're about to open them  . That would make a lot of the game aspects come more interesting.

2. Capturable towns, cities. (Gothic III best example). That would perfect the game, and make your hero a lot more involved in the game's plot. A full scale war or something.

3. Better AI of course. I like it when mobs don't just blindly attack you, but actually have some brains under that helmet of theirs. If they see they're outnumbered, they should surrender or commit suicide. Also, improved allies who don't come into your line of fire, or at least don't complain when they get hit for it  .

It would also be great to see some organized combat from units like imperial guards. Oblivion has archers shooting from distance, but i feel something's missing with the melee.

4. More types of quests, naturally. To make the questing as varied as possible. Bethesda does a splendid work with that, but still not for a 10 pts. Sometimes quests become repeatable as you know.

May've been mentioned, but these functions would be nice:

OnHits --- block condition, runs when the scripted actor hits someone. Another name might be better, as there's an OnHit block already.

GetLastActorHit

GetLastAttacker --- may be an equivalent function already

A "Take no damage from friendly fire" option, by NPC or by faction, would probably be well-received. An option to disable it might be a good idea, though.

The problem is that then murder would become almost impossible thereby removing a great part of the immersion if all friendly NPCs can't be damaged. Now, if they instead added in that there was no friendly fire during combat, that would be better. Except then let's say the player enters a town and attacks a guard. Then a non-guard NPC who really likes the player attacks the guards as well. Who's to say whether or not the player is going on a murderous rampage or just really doesn't like guards. There really is no effective way to do it.

What I meant by "by NPC or by faction" is that it could be a checkbox, off by default, that can be selected when making a given NPC or faction. If it were faction-based, it would only apply between members of that faction, and only if they weren't already attacking each other.

I would see this as something that is only applied to the player for companions and escort-quest NPCs. Having it as sort of a "No betrayal during combat, unless someone hits you with Frenzy" rule might be a good way to go.

Whatever or wherever the hell 5 happens they need to save their actor budget for the npcs instead of two big name actors we hardly notice. I mean, honestly, who bought the game because Captain Picard and Boromir were in it? That's a Hollywood trend. Gamers don't care.

And a longer main questline. Its the spine of the game and should take longer to complete. Maybe advancing in the main quest should be dependent on completing other areas of the game and reaching certain skill levels.

In all honesty, I didn't know they were in it, even after playing it, until I decided to read the Wikipedia page on it.

(Flip back a few pages for all of my wonderful comments earlier ^_^)

Edit: Page 28 :D

I would like to add:

1. I wish to see a way to "target" enemies in battle, so when you attack, you won't mistakently hit a friendly (perhaps only if you are using melee). This will circumvent the problem with the stupidity of the AI - as they run infront of you. This can not be used just as easily as being used, so if you want the 'emersion', you can have it - just never use your keybinding for 'target'.

2. The game will need much more advanced pseudo-AI if you are allowed companions without making a mod for them. Seriously, I never use companion mods because they just aren't smart enough to "hang" with you, and in some cases will report you if you steal or pick-pocket *shrugs*.

I admit I did not read all the 31 (!) pages back, so many of them could have been said before:

- for sure better, longer, varied main quest.

- Guilds with competition among them. Say, if you become Master of the FightersG, you can not advance more than a certain point in the Thieves'. Resigning (once only) from boss position could be added.

- More Guilds would be nice, for sure.

- real specializations: today an Orc with Warrior birthsign, with all magic skills as minor, specialized in Combat, can become a 100int, 100willpower, Destructive Magic Master, it will just take more time.

- More varied dungeons !!!

- the "named" weapons/armors should be better than the normal ones, and more difficult to obtain. Daedric quests are a walk in the park.

- if they do not want to give up on the levelling feature (I hope), at least do it better: I never saw a complete orcish or dwarven set, because the window for them to show up was too short. Now I swim in a pool full of Daedric and Glass armor pieces.

- Realism options : need to sleep/eat when activated.

- 500x mudcrabs than in Oblivion: my character loves mudcrab sushi !

Now that i properly think about it, what I'd really love to see would be the placement of unique and interesting items all over the map as there was in Morrowind, and not just appearing randomly in chests when your level's advanced enough that you don't need them anymore. Anyone remember that long trek to get your Daedric Dai-Katana from Maesa -Shammus Egg Mine? Or the blades of White Woe? Or those w*nkers in Ghostgate with the Daedric masks who you couldn't kill but...

Sorry. Started having flashbacks.

Searching for these things was what got me hooked and i miss it. Same goes for stealing nice stuff from stores.

I don't want this to sound like, 'Things i miss from Morrowind and hate about Oblivion', because thats not this thread and thats not really fair to Oblivion. Its got many improvements on III.

But still, i hope there's some trasure hunting again in 5.
