Crisb92
All I can say is that Bethesda's games have a history of being slightly unstable, as we saw from Morrowind. My only advice would be to save often, but I'm sure you've heard all of that before. Also it could be something to do with your old graphics card overheating? giantsloth1267
hmmm after about four hours of game play i just crashed again, but this time i got an error message that said something to the effect of "this memory could not be read at location 0fffffff" or something like that Well the graphics are on the low setting so i'm not sure it could be the card overheating, however that is an interesting hypothesis.. I used to play games like WoW all day long, not that that has graphics anywhere near as intense as Oblivion, but i also to play HL2 and CS:S as well for hours on end with no crashing... chris 07
Are you using any mods? If you are look for a broken mod.
Guest Some Guy
It happens 2 me too.Same thing about the 'send a report in' but im guessing thats just Bethesda cos' I hav Pirates Of The Carribean (its not that I like it, my friend is lending it 2 me) and that crashes as well.Im not completely sure since I don't know about ur computer *gasp* so it might just be ur computer but *gasp* prolly not. Crisb92
Yes, the memory cannot be read..., sounds very much like the Morrowind crashes that I have experienced.I think that this may be because the game is trying to access a portion of the computer's memory that is at that point being used by another process that is running in the background on your computer. Sorry, I can't offer any solutions. Cris
Guest Some Guy
Well, what my point is, starting a new game will fix it :P
Mithrandir8
Try defragmenting your computer, this can help a lot. If that doesn't work you might have to reinstall Oblivion.
giantsloth1267
Well i actually about 5 hours of gameplay with not a single crash after my last post, i'm pretty pround of my pc stickin it through... As far as defragmenting, i have a deframenting program which defrags much better then the stock windows defragger, so that shouldn't be the problem I also cleaned my registry, ran trojan detection, ran adaware detection, and virus detection... i also ran crapcleaner. So i think it's probably just bethesda sucking at stabality...regardless of all that, it's barely a minor inconvienence, i quicksave so much it's almost never been a problem, was just seeing if there is anything i could do...but alas, here we are, oh well... Thanks for the input guys
Abramul
What version are you using? I've heard 1.2 can be unstable if it doesn't make its changes to the .ini.
