Hide Helmet

What helmet(s) do you exactly want to hide? Give me full names and I can make a plugin for that.

Basically any helmet that makes you look bald, like the Combat Helmet or Synth Helmet. Stuff like Power Armour helmets or hats are fine. If you could make a plugin that would be amazing!

It would be cool if it were just toggle any helmet on/off and another option for glasses on/off. On another post someone requested a 3rd and separate option for power armor helmets on/off.

Yeah, any flexibility would be great. It's weird, loads of gross Vaultmeat mods, but nothing to hide clothing/armor

maybe a solution could be to add a 'visibility mod slot' to all headgear?

If this 'visibility mod slot' had no mod the headgear would be visible and if that slot was modded by the player with a made up invisibility mod then the headgear wouldn't show up.

of course I've never modded so I have no clue if that would be ridiculously difficult to make or not (on a side note this could be extended to all armors so you could have some equipment not show on your character if you for example want to use synth armor pieces and think they look ugly as all hell)

I really want this too. But, I don't think a scripted autotoggle is completely necessary, at least for me. I would be able to settle for a craftable head armor item with no graphic.

For example, there is already a mod called Invisible Hairpins which would have done the job for me if the item could have damage resistance built-in or moddable at the crafting station instead of just a SPECIAL bonus. There is also the Armorsmith Extended mod that allows all outfits and hats in the game to be modded with a ballistic weave, and allows outfits to be worn under limb armor.

I simply want to be able to see my character's face and hair without a big fat 0 on the head slot. Bells and whistles like autotoggle would be overachieving imho.

Edit: I just found out that there's an imperfect, unsupported version of Armorsmith Extended that has invisible helmets.

Hoping someone do this. After the start of the game I rushed to diamond city on my female character to change her hairstyle to one of those half shaved that look badass, but then I put a newsboy cap and the hair is gone...so I'm currently playing without a helmet, getting crippled in the head pretty often though...

I agree this would be useful.

I can't imagine it would be too hard to make, would it?

Never assume things about how difficult a mod might be to make.

I mean, if they were that easy, we wouldn't need to ask people who know what they're doing now would we?

While it is true that figuring this or that as easy or hard without knowing is wrong, an empty .nif replacer might be the temporal workaround until the GECK comes out and stuff like auto-unequip-re-equip can be figured out in a scripted way... I wouldnt mind taking a crack at this, so I'll be looking around

Mod mentioned in previous post does not cover PA helmets.

Waiting for proper helmet toggle, there is simple workaround (at least for PA helmets) - use 2 hotkeyed headwears for example:

1. PA helmet

2. Eyeglasses/knit cap/ bandana/ etc

and then cycle between them as you engage in conversation etc. (Cycle - because hotkeys cant' be use to unequip anything, just to equip/use)
