White squares around characters

So I am getting these strange white squares appearing around characters after the Vault Tek guy's visit. Not sure how this happened, or why, but I can not figure out how to get rid of them.

Has anyone come across this or heard about this? Would there be a fix anywhere that's been heard of?

Thank you all

No, sadly I didn't. But nice idea. Seems to definitely be tied to lighting as inside the vault it goes away, but outside it was on everyone.

iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=2048

Wondering if god lighting has anything to do with it, but wouldn't think that was an issue since that effect 'should' be used all the time like particle effects.

Whelp, I think it's definitely tied to shadow resolution, since I've been tweaking it all day trying to get rid of shadows for objects and just leave the enviroment shadows on.
When I lowered below the low settings value of the shadows the white squares appear... Now, I'm speculating but the game has some LOD texture problems that cause low res textures to load... Maybe it's related and it affects shadow textures too?

Seems pretty reasonable, not sure how to address that, but I need to play this game for a while then come back to tinkering with settings. But oddly, this doesn't bother me at all compaired to the damn keyboard assignment being uneditable... Again.

To all the modders out there, I look forward to your work, it's necessary once more to save the day. :D

Curious why you don't want object shadows, that is the part I notice the most when I play.

Try disabling God Rays using this method:

There is a trick though.

If the game detects your settings at preset values other than "low", or if you manually select the "ultra" preset, then disabling "god rays" will do nothing to remedy the situation.

On the other hand, manually selecting the "low" preset, THEN leaving "god rays" option disabled and then maxing out on "ultra" all else fixes the issue for good.

It worked for me and I think it will work for everybody.

Thank you both, I am quite grateful for the help, with a safe fix and the involved one to choose from.

I have never heard of ENB, looks very helpful. might take a look at that when I feel safe to start playing with the settings again.

Thank you.
