Texture folders

I did a quick search and didn't find anything , probably too basic an issue but I've not modded my games before...

 

The question is : most of the mods Ive downloaded say "Extract contents into DATA dir"..plain enough, however many of them only have a README.txt file and a folder called TEXTURES.Now obviously theres already a textures folder in DATA so am I to further extract the files in the new Texture folder into the existing one or is it common to merge the two folders or even do I extract the new files directly into the DATA folder itself without altering the original Textures folder at all??

You simply merge the two texture folders. If you have a folder called textures inside the texture folder, then you've messed up, As the folders that should be inside the Textures Folder should have category names, Such as animobjects and actors.

now we talk about textures folder should that folder be with big or Smal T i see some make them with bit T and some with Small t since every folder is with small so i have made my folder with a small t idk if it does a difference but just want to make sure

As far as I am aware, Capital letters do not seem to matter, So you could probably write it like tExTuReS and the game would still register the folder.
