Varyell
I spied a Battlefield 2142 mod for Fallout 3, I believe it was the Enclave conversion mod, though I am still a hardcore player and fan of Battlefield 2142. I love the style and looks of the armor and weapons, and I'd -love- to see a conversion of such mods or a totally new mod that introduced 2142 weapons and armor into the game. Quite the request, especially from a newbie like myself, though I'd suppose I'm not the only one since I've spied some images of EU and PAC backpacks being used by mod-makers when they show off weapons like the 40k Boltgun. Links to follow, showing what I am talking about to anyone that is unsure. This link is to a conversion mod shown by Skree000, I positively loved the work on this. It was so true to the look and style of the PAC and EU armor. I could live without the vehicles, though the fact he'd made them blew me away. I'd say it'd be awesome if someone picked up on this. It'd be even better if there could be some worn-down metal textures for the armor, to give it that long-term fighting look and appeal that New Vegas has for many armors. http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/92318-battlefield-2142-fallout-3/ Just a request is all, as for where I spotted this type of stuff in New Vegas was in these images, I was surprised someone had converted or made EU or PAC style backpacks for New Vegas already. I would love to see a total suit done the same way, hell, I'd settle for just the armor and -maybe- the basic weapons for 2142 classes. http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/images/38708-1-1292442101.jpg Image was for the Warhammer 40k conversion mod made for New Vegas, link to that is here: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38708 Once again, thanks to anyone who just read this really, and keep creative out there modders. I love seeing -any- inventive or nostalgic mods out there. Hell, I even liked the simple stuff like the Classic Fallout Weapons mod, brings back old days of Fallout 1 and 2. Peace out, stay cheerful people.
LuciusConfucius
I would also love to see skrees bf2142 mod ported to new vegas! It's just so awesome looking! I have some basic experience with the GECK(mostly modifying and copying things, never added anything).Anyone knows how to port things? Is it easy/hard for a GECK newbie, if it's easy and with Skrees permission I might give it a try.
Korodic
porting objects from other games is against the rules for copyright reasons :pirate:
LuciusConfucius
porting objects from other games is against the rules for copyright reasons :pirate:Not porting it from the game itself but from Skrees Battlefield 2142 fallout 3 mod(google skree 2142 and view his blog). And then porting it from Fallout 3 to New Vegas, is that really against copyright? I think it would add free advertising for Battlefield 2142, so I'm sure they wouldn't mind people doing mods based on their game.I myself have just gotten an interest for BF 2142 from Skree's mod, I had almoust no idea what it was before, but I was looking around for some good armor and weapons mod for FO3 and found someone linking to skrees. Now I'm actually thinking of buying BF2142 :D
Korodic
Well then no, as long as it's inspired and not ported in any way, you're fine (with author's permission given).
jsnider193
I did move most of skree stuff to NV for my own use .. never posted cause I thought couldn't if recall FO3 thread right, got it from his own site and then converted what wanted. In FO3 brought over the vehicles as statics also (for my use) have not really used them here in NV. So before do a lot of work I'd ck with the moderators here and see what they say on posting such here. They are beuatiful weapons and stuff fer sure.If have the meshes and dds files is not that hard to get imported via the Geck, most of the work is done on 2nd tab when activate a weapon, cahnge what the weapon ref's for look in 3 places ... plus make a 1stperson static if one not avail ... then give it the stats you want in ref to vanilla weapons. I never changed any of that and they seem to show up in game just fine. Could you tell me how to make a 1stperson static? I just converted all weapons and armor to New Vegas myself, it was pretty easy when following tutorials. The only "bug" I have found is the revolver or "Verdict" weapon, it's round bullet chamber is all messed up, but I think that may be because of bad animation, going to test around changing it. And when shooting in first person the weapon (if it's a big one) blocks the screen slightly as the game tries to put your view behind the iron sights. I lowered all fire rates aswell, this makes the sound and general "feeling" much better. For anyone who would want to know how I did it use this tutorial: http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/250761-converting-fo3-mod-for-fnv/And when you are at the GRUP copy phase, just copy these: SOUN, ENCH, ARMO, WEAP, PROJ. I never tested copying SCRI (or SCRIP or something like that, it's scripts) as it requires Fallout Script Extender, but have not had any problems yet. Note that you need slight experience with GECK to get this to work. And remember to change the AR in the armor's to Damage Reduction! My next step is to give the gear to an NPC army. jsnider193
For ref just talking about the 'Art and Sound' tab and the model section there. have 3 things can change .. the Model, 1stperson model object, and World Model ... depending on how want to use the item. If using skree origininal don't run into this, me I just redid into a combined weapons mod so had to do some cosmetic work to get all the refs right in this tab.For the 2nd one need to make a 1stpersonstatic in 'World Objects', Statics section and there under weapons. For me I just open an existing 1stperson, rename it so is unique and then edit the model to point to the nif using. Believe skree had this in his mod so should have available ... I think been a while since played with them. Sorry if confused you on this stuff.
gamebryo
This thread might be practically dead, but if you're one of the few people (like myself) still looking for this mod, I can 100% tell you a New Vegas version of this mod does in fact exist, and it does work, as I just finished testing it. There are a few... strings attached to this however, and it's something you can either deal with, or have it be a deiciding factor to just converting the mod over yourself and setting it up for use with New Vegas. 1.) The mod is in French.I found this on a french modding website, through translating and searching, I found the link. This is the website:http://www.confrerie-des-traducteurs.fr/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8621#top This is the direct link to the download if you have trouble finding it:http://www.confrerie-des-traducteurs.fr/fallout-nv/mods/armurerie/armes_et_armures/fallout_2142_(portage_nv) This also changes the Battlefield 2142 weapons and armors to french, and it also changes the schoolhouse to french.Nothing else changes language wise, so it's safe to use for your game. 2.) You still need the Fallout 3 mod resourcesThe links above only give you the necessary .esm to put the same weapons from the Fallout 3 Battlefield 2142 mod into Fallout New Vegas. They do NOT include the meshes / sounds / textures / etc. You'll need to follow the bellow link to get the resource files needed to make this mod run. This link (also in French) lets you grab the needed Fallout 3 Battlefield 2142 mod, although you probably could use the one from Nexus, this is the one I tested with, and also the one that was suggested with the New Vegas version of Battlefield 2142 mod:http://www.confrerie-des-traducteurs.fr/fallout/mods/armurerie/armes_et_armures/fallout_2142 3.) No Iron-SightsThis kinda bummed me out, but every gun does not have iron-sights, or rather 'true' iron-sights, except for the Sniper Rifles (Which go into scope mode) Pressing aim will just zoom the screen in a bit, but these are from Fallout 3, and Fallout 3 didn't have iron-sights, so that's why. There are a bunch of knifes which are pretty cool, along with backpacks, armors, and helmets. All of them work and look great, and even without iron-sights, I still use my favorite heavy machine gun and shotgun from the Fallout 3 version. God-damn it feels so good to finally have these in New Vegas. Where to find the items? They are in the schoolhouse in Goodsprings, the one with all the mantis, it's down the road if you head right when you leave Doc Mitchells house. Cheers~
