jakubtyl
1) Mod to make doors and gates close after settlers have stepped through (or automatically close after X amount of time) 2) Mod to prohibit companions from opening doors when following the player 3) Mod which allows the player to lock doors to keep off infiltrating enemies (without using console) Any hero's out there? :ninja:Thumbs up for these points... I do only graphic stuff so I cant do it.. just thinking would the "automatic close the door after 3-5 seconds" be an easier way? Maybe that one could be done without CK but who knows... pinkytwist
Agreed. It's annoying to see the Castle door always opened. Also, would love if someone could make a special door that only allows the player to open it. Tired of settlers and companions going into my house and sleep on my bed, it's supposed to be my little corner. :(
ChainReaction666
The gate in Covenant closes automatically a few secs after opening. It would be great if someone could identify the mechanic and apply it to all buildable doors and gates.
Vastien
Was going to mention Covenant myself, it is indeed scripted to close after it has been open for a small duration, would hopefully be an easy tweak ?. As to another two points raised by pinkytwist here, there are some workarounds but you need to be on the PC for one of them. However, the first fix is available to everyone when those pesky hobos keep stealing your beds. When in workshop build mode you can assign people to beds as you would assign them to guard posts or food production. So if you find someone sleeping in your house, just assign them to another spare bed. Also to make doors that only the player can open, I found a useful little thing. I noticed when one of my companions was trying to reach me, they got stuck behind a door that was open. Watching them use their amazing path finding skills was a privilidge as I watched them continually run head first into a door without thinking of moving around it. It was then that I realised that NPC's can open doors just fine, but closing them appears to be something that baffles them beyond all reason. So, for the PC workaround for creating doors that only the player can open, you start by utilising this ---> http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1267/? <--- It works via the use of cheatengine, which I've been using for years and this allows you to build objects absolutely anywhere even if they're inside other objects. So here's what you do.. Use that "mod" to place down a door in the middle of the street as a free standing object, no need to put it in a doorway yet.Now exit workshop mode, and activate the door so it is in the open position. With the door now set in the open state you pick it back up in workshop mode and place it in your doorway so it looks like the door is closed within the confines of the doorframe, just like a normal door placement.Use the cliche step of "Profit"Enjoy Now, the open/closed state of your door is reversed, when it's open, it's technically closed, and when it's closed in the doorframe, it's actually open. This stops NPC's opening these doors, effectively blocking them in/out of the area, but also as an added bonus, it also means that sometimes your companion will do something useful and "close" your door for you in passing! So I hope you can make use of this information until a proper mod comes out to fix it! EDIT : Forgot to mention, you'll probably need to use the doors from one of the Settlement expanded mods. Lemnear
Having only Settlers that where raised in a barn is the second most annoying thing in FO4. (Most annoying thing is NPC pathfinding)Even Raiders and Super Mutants settlements get their doors closed when the cell resets, making it look like Super Mutants are more civilized than my own settlers. Someone should really look into the Covenant home door scripts where npc unlock their door with a key and lock it behind them again. It would suffice to have only one key for all placed doors, though it would bring back some nostalgia having a gate, red, green, blue, asf door key
