Parkillous
Stephane is usually a man's name. Obsequious springs to mind. Hmm. One can only wonder at the kind of games the reviewer has played before. But these over-inflated statements were common when the game first came out in 2006. (As indeed were some equally ott criticisms.) I'm not sure there is much to be gained in rehashing the arguments now. Mind you, I had to laugh about the conversations. The off-beat asides in Bloodmoon were a lot funnier. And if I hear anyone mention mudcrabs again.... This is a fresh review for the PS3 version of the game, from the same guy that did a review of the xbox version a year ago. A year on and he still loves to stop and overhear bandits conversations as he is blissfully walking from town to town? -_- It's nothing new. Every game tries to convince that it's the best out there, and you should know that. It's somewhat boring to watch every, for example, Oblivion-hater post topic about how it is LAME and DISGUSTING, but, see, Morrowind is allmighty and pwnz other games in all possible ways - i mean, okay, you think that, but why do i care? I like Oblivion, though never played Morrowind, alas i don't think these type of posts could change my mind.Keep your shouting and trowing to somewhere else. As I said, Im not an oblivion hater... ive never even played morrowind... but these reviews piss me off none the less.
Sypron
I don't agree with that reviers ideas one "Oblivion; The never ending game" I played morrowind far more than i played oblivion, and i would say i've done about 25% of morrowind's quests, and 100% of oblivions quests. Incidentally, my first character (assassin, dunmer) finished every faction and quest in the game. that was after about 120 hours.

That was my first character by the way. He's been deleted from existence now...

Parkillous
w00t, but did these reviews appear as links on bethesdas site? I'd say the "Radiant AI" system, and the NPC life. It's something no one has ever tried on this scale, and we're just starting to see how powerful it is, and how we can translate those NPC behaviors into meaningful gameplay. *twitch* EDIT: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Rhydderch Hael
@ Rhydderch Hael: I know that. I said "Morrowind" in reference to the game title.Like anyone was supposed to glean that from your sentence? Going by your newly revealed criteria, I'll happily point out that TES IV is subtitled Oblivion, not Cyrodiil.

Vagrant0
For what it's worth, on its own, Oblivion isn't THAT bad. Yeah, they could have done better, and actually made good on their promises, but it really could have been worse. There are also plenty of newer games that are even worse... Unpatched NWN2, or Fable TLC anyone? NWN2 is buggy as hell unpatched (took them what, 3 months for that), still lacks a decent modding tool. Fable has fewer dynamic features, less interesting quests, and forces you to stay on the road, also has less complicated graphics, fewer lines of spoken dialogue, and virtually no modding capabilities. I spent a few months looking for something that worked better and didn't find anything. Game production in general is getting worse and worse as games become more detailed and complicated. Eyecandy at the cost of depth and functionality... Afterall more people buy games because they look good, not because they play good. If this wasn't the case, there wouldn't be 20 million+ people playing WoW and WoW clones. They really designed the game to look good for the first few hours (compare the detail present in Chargen and Kvatch with later quests (excluding early DB ones) there is a significant drop in custom features and quality), then begin to suck. By then the player has already bought the game, and told their friends about cool it is. It's only now, when all the mysteries have been uncovered, support has gone to crap, and we're used to seeing things in game that there's a problem. People who write reviews for a living don't play that long, they play a few hours, read up on all the company propaganda, and rehash the same thing someone else said. When have reviewers ever said something negative about one of these overhyped games released by a major company... It clearly isn't because the games are masterpieces worthy of praise.
