rhev
I play a stealth / melee focused character, and because of this, I am crouched at least half the time I'm playing, and almost all the time in any combat situation. I was so disappointed with Night Person's "night vision" that comes along with the second rank of the ability. The colors wash out, any light source you see is overwhelmingly blinding and oversaturated, but worst of all, about 50% of your screen becomes blurry and you get serious tunnel vision. It's a really terrible effect for a mid to late game perk. I was expecting some sort of 'lightening' effect on the vision, maybe a slight screen tinting to green or some other color, nothing too bad but something not terribly obtrusive. I was so startled by how bad the effect was that after playing with it for a few hours I had to console command and remove the perk. I made a video describing how bad it is here: Thanks in advance to any modders who work on this.
Edgarhighmen
The "life sensing" helmet is also quite terrible, allied npc and turrets are "EXTREMELY GLOWY RED" and its horrible. Friendly items should either be non-highlighted or a less intrusive glow / color.
rhev
I haven't seen that yet Edgar, I'll have to check it out.
GSmog
good video. It reminds me of the problem that the default night vision had with skyrim. Same blur around the sides of the screens, and same weird saturation effect. Theres many mods that dealt with it, one Im reminded of is Gophers Predator Vision. As soon as we get the tools Im sure someone will change the night vision and other screen overlays to be better too. It isnt a problem specifically with the perk though, the same thing happens with the night vision scope. Just night vision itself is kinda garbagey by default. rhev
Indeed, there were plenty of skyrim mods that did 'night vision' right. I can't recall which mod had it, but one brightened everything and gave the game a very slight purple hue. Not enough to be very distracting, but enough that you knew when you were using it. I want to say maybe it was a 'drow' racial power for a custom race?
Edgarhighmen
I haven't seen that yet Edgar, I'll have to check it out.I learned, Berry mentats has a nice "life finding" effect compared to vats helmet, However, yet again, it marks friendlies and friendly turrets too (which is mad annoying). It'd be nice if friendlies weren't marked, or were a different color. Pretty sure each creature has a xxx rgb hue setting in some file... altering or disabling friendlies colors (especially turrets) would be nice. Onikobe
I second this request. The effect is terrible and is literally hurting my eyes. Way to bright with light sources around and in addition with the nasty blur effect it is just straining. Really don't know what they were thinking implementing such a mess. off topic: I f♥cking hate blur effects in general. Whoever developed blur effects in video games to begin with seriously has to be the meanest misantrophe in the video gaming industry.
SilverbladeTE
Agreed! I want the perk, I want the night vision, but whoever added the blur to the night and recon vision was a bloody MORON!! who the HELL *wants* that in game, eh? NO ONEit should be obvious to any gamer.really annoyed at that :/ black and white, light green, or a tint at the border of screen would be fine, but a huge blur over everything but the centre of screen?!please can someone fix this and let us use nightvision/recon vision? Edited December 7, 2015 by SilverbladeTE
DragosDrakkar
I agree with all previous statements as well. Such a shame that Bethesda comes up with such helpful effects with built-in horrible side effects.
AtmaDarkwolf
after seeing it myself, I at first thought I somehow got some weird bug, and spent about 30 min trying to 'google' the bug until I realized I had just snagged NP2 quite a while back (Was building a settlement and didn't try sneaking until about 2-3 hours AFTER I leveled up and got the perk) After realizing/finding out what it was, I now make sure to save before getting ANY perk (was expecting every single 'top tier' perk upgrade to have some huge kick-in-the-nuts side effect/big f-you effect attached) Would LOVE a 'fix' for at LEAST the stupid blurry/tunnel vision effect.
