Umbrella Mod

I was discussing this idea on another forum and I figured I'd present it here.

Everyone who has been a Vampire knows how much of a pain it is to avoid the daytime, because of the Sun Damage. What I propose is that someone here create a mod that would help all Vampires get around this extreme handicap, an Umbrella Mod.

It would be equipped like a Torch is and protect the holder against the deadly rays of the sun. That way, Vampires can move around freely in both Day and Night. Also, like the torch, if you constantly attack while the umbrella is equipped, it should degrade (this would be the turning inside-out of it) and you would have to buy a new one.

That's just my idea to help all those vampires out there.

Great idea, once you figure out how to do it, and without many conflicts with popular vampire mods I'm sure people would appreciate it. Unfortunately it may take you awhile to get it figured out as sun damage is part of the vampire ability set, and cannot be reduced without changing the abilities. While you could technically just change the abilities to get rid of it entirely, or have it added progressivly based on various scripting states, this would conflict with most vampire mods. Why nobody who made those mods ever thought about seperating the good parts from the bad parts and doing anything like this is beyond me.

someone could create a weapon that has a mesh and textures of an umbrella and script it to negate the Sun Damage aspect of vampirism for as long as you equip it

Old topic... As I had already said;

You even quoted me. It clearly explains the problem and mentions the only way of getting around it. However again, anyone who attempted to do so would likely break any other vampire mods.

As for tsolless, you could probably reduce the necessity of fast travel just by setting the timescale to something more reasonable. With the standard timescale nights only last 15 minutes (real time) or so, probably closer to 8 or 10 if you don't start off running at the crack of dusk. With a timescale of 5 or 10, that's 45 mins to over an hour (real time) that you can be running around. Sure, dayight hours are longer too, but you'd normally be sleeping through those hours anyway.

If you still feel you need a portable house of some kind, you might want to try here http://oblivionsrealestate.com/

Now, If you knew how much DPS the sun damage does you could give the umbrella an enchantment or script to restore health per second. Becuase you take the damage constantly if you get hit, or fall it won't restore extra health. You will still have to use potions and the such. But, if you wear it at night.. It may be a bit over powered. Im not sure if its possible to make it work during certain hours or not, but if so then that problem can easily be avoided.
