Povuholo
With Media Convert you can convert a lot of media to a different type. An Open Office document into a word document, a movie into an audio file, an audio file into a different audio file, etc. The filesize of a file you want to convert can be up to 150 MB. What's so nice about it is that it's 100% free, and all done through your browser. So you don't have to download something. You can either convert a file on your own computer, or a file from the internet, like a youtube video. Thought I'd share this with y'all :)

Gabbemaster
How about privacy? If this is a webbased service, do they keep track of what people convert? Not that I have anything to hide at the moment  ... But it would be good to know how they handle the information :)
Switch
That is a good point, actually. I certainly wouldn't use this service for anything sensitive...

Vagrant0
The real question is what can be converted to what, and how good is it... For instance once I'm striken blind, can I convert my pornography into sound files, or am I stuck trying to learn brail (would probably have to shave my hands for that... Hard to do when you're blind)? Self defacating jokes aside (I'm really not a porno person in truth), I can't see many people needing to convert files that aren't .pdf related. Most applications that open those files allow you to import/export other file types, and in the case of media or archive files, I really wouldn't trust any sort of outside conversion as I probably need those files completely intact, and again most media players, or archiving programs can be made to open related file types. I was wondering the same. I mean, what's the use of converting an MP3 file into a text document?

Maybe if you want to convert a digital .mp3 book? Jokes aside, the dangerous thing is that you never know what kind of extra code your file may include when you recive it after the conversion...
