Im just wondering if i use this link http://audiojungle.net/item/charge-bugle-call/9432578?s_phrase=bugle&s_rank=18

and reupload the file with better wording will it get taken down again?

Read their TOS http://audiojungle.net/licenses/terms/audio_sfx_media_single You should always read the TOS or EULA or Contract when dealing with ANYTHING. Yes i know most people skip it with games and software and the like but this sort of matter it is better to read it. They at least keep it pretty simple.

How is it silly?

Legal due process to ensure proper credit for used materials is silly. I thought everyone knew that. the internet's supposed to be an anarchistic free for all with no rules or accountability, where you can use or claim ownership of whatever you want, free from pesky legal ethics.

The problem you're going to have with this, or any audio, is it's not JUST the sound that can be controlled, but the performance. You need to find a source that outright permits the use of their performance for distribution, whether you pay for that right (which, frankly, doesn't seem necessary for so common a bit) or they publicly allow it.

How is it silly?

It's three pages of the OP struggling to legally obtain a license to a three-second soundbite as ubiquitous as the Wilhelm scream. It's silly in the way that a Monty Python sketch is silly. The only way it could get sillier is if someone here on the forums revealed themself to be an accomplished bugler and belted out a fresh performance for OP's exclusive use.

I'm dying over here. Funny stuff.

I agree it is silly. Blame Mickey Mouse (Disney Corporation Lawyers) and Sony Bono ( Copyright Term Extension Act of 1998) And Bill Clinton for signing it into law for this stupid law that extended copyrights to 75 years or more and stopped any new music from being allowed into public domain for many years.

Under this Act, additional works made in 1923 or afterwards that were still protected by copyright in 1998 will not enter the public domain until 2019 or afterward (depending on the date of the product) unless the owner of the copyright releases them into the public domain prior to that. US ONLY.

The EU law even revived older copyrights that had already expired. Meaning that some public domain was no longer public domain. :psyduck:

Unfortunately lawyers have abused the intent of the law ( like they do with many laws) and bent it beyond all recognition with their lawyer tricks.

I am sure there is a public domain version of that bugle call. The problem is finding it in the millions of scam and for pay sites that you need to dig through - Do NOT bother to google free music as you will be inundated with bogus sites claiming free just to get you to sign up on their site where they get paid for advertising, and claim the copyrighted music they have is free to download (until you get caught)

The scam they are using now is for a lawyer to send you a letter demanding money from you ( typically around US $3000) for downloading copyrighted music, If you don't pay they say they will sue you and it will cost you a lot more - they claim it will cost you around $50k to fight it. If you call a lawyer for advice, they will tell you it's cheaper to pay the blackmail than go to court.

Here is one for those saying Youtube music uploaders are not being sued. http://www.theverge.com/2014/7/21/5924405/youtube-star-michelle-phan-sued-copyright-infringement

well fine then i'm dropping it. I'm not going to share this mod here if I have to constantly walk on egg shells. I made this mod for my own game and thought maybe other people would enjoy this, and it would have been a small mod with not a lot of attention and I would never ask for donations for it simply because it was too easy to make. I would feel like i'm robbing the people who actually work hard on their mods. i just replaced a file whopdi doo.... I thank you all for the help you tried to give me and the insight of how BS the (SYSTEM) is if anyone want to reupload it on nexus the "Right Way" I wish them Luck. I would be happy its at least available to the public tho.

Try this one. There's not much info about it though other than the "rights" would allow you to use it according to the page. http://www.soundboard.com/sb/mjfoster

I'm not sure how this website work exactly but I guess it's either that or you get some synthesizer and play it yourself. which wouldn't be that hard, given you find a synthesizer with the right instrument.

Also, as a side note, Ragnarok Online SFX are from the Miles Sound System.
