SlimeQ
i have a dream, and in that dream i am able to go to red rocket truck stop, sit down at the wind powered terminal controlling my turrets, and be dropped into a full headless linux vm with tmux, irssi, Internet access to the outside world, etc. Probably also some sort of socket based way to control my turrets. is this possible? has it ever been attempted in a previous fallout? can anyone point me in the right direction? I've seen some rudimentary terminal mods already that are basically just string edits, but there would need to be some sort of mechanism to inject strings into the running game and receive keyboard input. does such a mechanism exist? further, is there any way to execute external windows/cygwin commands from the fallout console? SlimeQ
well yeah, I'm mostly just pretty hazy on how fallout's terminals work exactly. is there a robco OS somewhere that can be hacked up? what determines the text that is displayed on a given terminal? the logic? SlimeQ
game functionality would be a bonus but I'd imagine it'd be far more complicated. how would you embed a debian vm?
jonnyetiz
game functionality would be a bonus but I'd imagine it'd be far more complicated. how would you embed a debian vm?Ill make it short - you take out all of the terminal files, replace them with a linux VM, then go into game files and change some info there. Thats just a basic. Have to wait until CK though. Unfortunately, I probably wont be able to do that. On release of the CK I will be working on the Return of the Enclave mod. I actually need some help, so if you want some more info, just find it here! http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3446300-preparing-for-the-enclave-return-mod/ Edited November 24, 2015 by jonnyetiz
ShinraStrife
To quote codsworth; "I'd eat my hat"..... to see a functioning linux VM terminal replacer.
