Required Mod Suggestions

Hey guys I happened upon a CD-version of Oblivion recently and thought I'd give it a try.

I've been modding for ages now, Skyrim, FO3/NV/4

Just a few questions:

What are some required mods?

Will I have problems using a CD version with MO, should I even use MO?

Should I know anything about bashed/merged patches?

Thanks guys.

I have an old CD version as well. No problem at all using MO, Bash, or any other tools. Everything works as it should.

As far as required mods I really love Qarl's texture pack. It is very much like the original look and feel just higher resolution. Also Darn UI , HUD status Bars and Enhanced Hotkeys are always loaded.

I also have the Unofficial Oblivion patch and the patches for the DLC's of course.

I have not really modded Oblivion extensively though. I have used Oscuros Overhaul and Monster Mod in the past but lately have been running the game closer to the original with just a few tweaks.

As in all things gaming these are subjective of course.

Thank you for the suggestion although your mod seems a little too complex for what I need right, I don't know what irks me yet.. Also I'm a bit of a gaming masochist, I like to be beaten and called Nancy pants.. Although it does look interesting, I'll be sure to check it again in the future.

Whilst I'm here, I tried playing Oblivion, or maybe it was Morrowind, a few years ago and I stopped playing because I learned that every sword (offensive) hit was chance based and hated the idea.. Is this true for Oblivion and do any of the mods I have change it to something else? Feels like it does, I would of read the mod pages but... FCOM.. It bested me.. For now.

Hey Tulsa, I hope your game Is running well, I started an intensive modding project with Oblivion earlier this year having not played my favourite game for sometime, and never actually doing a playthrough of Oblivion fully modded. I had modded the game smoothly, loading up fine and it ran fine. But I think I may have over did it, and the game was crashing very frequently. So this time round, after every mod I install, I'm going to play for awhile, see what happens. I'm going to use Mod Organizer and Wrye Bash aswell. Have you used only these 2 programs or have you had to revert to Oblivion Mod Manager for some mods?

FYI my AoG mod now support that 'beat up player' mode, its called Greed Wrath (ak Random Encounter Spawn)

rule is : in X second and in Y chance, player will get random monster spawn.

If you want to really feel get beaten up that much just setting it to >> in 10 second and 100% chance Greed Wrath will spawn
