StephanBlad
A few of questions regarding the use of MO and CK together: - Do I have to run CK through MO? And does it matter which profile I have selected if I launch CK through MO? - When I saved my mod it appeared in the skyrim -> mod organizer -> overwrite folder even though I saved it to skyrim -> data. Why does this happen? Is that a bad thing? - When I save my mod, it also appears in the plugins list (not the installed mods list though) of every profile I have created in MO before I have a chance to do anything else. One of the selling points of MO is to have one profile completely free of mods you don't wan't to have on that profile. Am I messing with my save files of profile A by simply letting my mod stay in the plugins list without launching the game with profile A, just profile B? I am a little confused as to how I should use CK now that I have installed MO, and I really don't want to go back to NMM. Any advice? Thanks. IsharaMeradin
If you launch the CK through MO, the output files will be placed in the overwrite folder. The overwrite folder is shared among all profiles. Simply create a new mod from the overwrite folder so that your project will have its own mod folder. Future uses will see some files overwriting what is in your mod folder and some files going into the overwrite. Generally it is new files in the overwrite and existing files in the project folder. However, the ESP will always be placed into the overwrite folder, drag and drop into your mod folder. Keeping your files in a mod folder (so it appears on the left list) will allow you to have it active in one profile and inactive in any others. If you wish to do any scripting there may need to be additional steps taken to get the papyrus compiler to comply. See link in my signature... Should I make I compressed file out of the overwrite folder, then install it as a mod using MO? Is it ok if I launch CK through Steam instead? IsharaMeradin
No. Just right click on the overwrite folder in MO and choose "Create Mod" If you launch the CK outside of MO, you cannot use anything that is within MO. And then anything you make would be within the original game folder and then it would be in every profile of MO.

Sorry, and thanks, I'm completely new to MO.
IsharaMeradin
Left list at the very bottom below all of your installed mods. You should have a triangle in the upper right that becomes colored with a small number on it whenever you have files in your overwrite folder. Unless things have drastically changed since version 1.3.8, it should be there.

Thanks, you saved my night. :)
jeyoon
I ran into the compiling script error after a few days of beating my head against the wall trying to figure out why the trainer I had created in CK run through MO wasn't working... After reading this post I put two and two together and figured this must be the issue. I would like to test this by simply using the CK outside of MO. However, when I try to run CK outside of MO it doesn't launch. It will start to but then crash without an error message or anything. It runs perfectly well through MO, but not at all when I run the executable from the Skyrim folder.... I uninstalled re-downloaded and still same issue. Is this normal for the Creation Kit to only work through MO? Please advise me. Edited April 20, 2017 by jeyoon
