9IBrownie
Hello community! ---------------------------- SPOILER ALERT ---------------------------(very smalll spoilers about factions of the main story included)------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A few hours of Fallout 4 ago I found a really tough Legendary Supermutant. I could not take more than 5 hits from him without having to take at least one Radaway (somehow he irradiated me with his Minigun) and one Stimpack. I was pretty lucky to be able to kill him in the first try. After looting him I foung out, what made him so dangerous. He had a "Irradiated Minigun" which did, additional to the 8 base damage (whithout the Big Guns-Perk), 50 radiation damage per shot. I was convinced this gun would be totally op. But it didn't fit my playstyle, so I didnt use it until recently. When I was trying to mow down the Brotherhood of Steel at Boston Airport for the Institute council (oh god I hate Bethesda for forcing me to make this kind of decisions).Well, I was severely disappointed when it took me way more than 20 hits to kill a low level Brotherhood Scribe or something similar. Does that mean that the radiation damage does not effect NPCs? I play on medium difficulty and kill an average BoS-Guy (without Power Armor) with one shot from Kellog's Pistol dealing about 110-150 damage. If the rad damage would not be ignored by NPCs this would mean I could kill the BoS-Guys in 3-4 shots. But unfortunately I don't. It seems like I dont do any additional damage (to that 8 base damage) at all. I realize environmental radiation does not effect my companions so I guess this is the case for all NPCs aswell. Is it possible the game makes no difference between the rad damage I inflict and the rad damage of the environment? Obviously the radiation blaster DOES actually effect NPCs though, so I am not sure what to think about that. :/ Have you experienced similar issues? With kind regards,9IBrownie
Langy
You need to do 1000 radiation damage to anything before they will die to it, just like the PC needs to take 1000 rads prior to dying to radiation sickness. 50 radiation damage means that it does 5% of maximum health damage per shot (assuming no rad resistance). Pthalo
And like they said about rad resistance: I don't know what those BoS folks were wearing when you shot them, but it's very likely you were doing closer to 3-4% of their max hp if they had decent gear.
