LawfulCupcake
Hi, I've been wanting to play New Vegas again since Fallout 4 came out. FO4 doesn't run well on my system, and the RP isn't as open as I'd like, so it's making me want to play NV again. When I tried to play it, though, I started having problems, and I can't figure out how to make it work  It's the age old crash after the intro video, but I haven't managed to find a fix that's worked. I tried the d3d9.dll fix, I tried removing the lines from the .ini for the intro movie, I ran the directX installer in the Redists folder, I tried something a friend of mine suggested and gave everything admin mode and then run it all as an administrator, setting affinity to make it so that it's only using one core of my processor, but that didn't help. I'm really at my wits' end here. I'd REALLY like to get NV running again. I'm regretting uninstalling it every day and every time I try to trouble shoot it. I had the issue with the intro movie before, but the d3d9.dll fix solved it right away. If anyone has any ideas, I'd really be appreciative :D Also, here's the specs for my machine: AMD FX-8350 4.00 GHz 8 coreAMD Radeon HD 697016 GB of DDR3 RAMWin 7 64 bit EDIT: I didn't realize this wasn't the section of the forum to put it in, could this please be moved? :) Edited November 26, 2015 by LawfulCupcake
Cocktopusss
Are you running it on steam?
JimboUK
Have you got any mods installed? if so which ones. Also, install this http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/53635/?
BipedalGiraffe
If you have any mods installed, I'd suggest downloading and running LOOT to sort them out a bit. It's not perfect, but I've had that fix the same issue you're having on a few different occassions. Also, do "verifty integrity of game cache" in the game's Steam settings. If it was a load order issue, wouldn't it crash before I get to the menu? It's crashing when I try to start a game or load an old save. I've verified the integrity multiple times, but it doesn't help.
