thestigma
Hey, The mod idea is pretty simple...I've come to accept and actually sort of like the new critical system - at least the non random part where you actually save them up and use them instead of randomly getting them. More control and less black&white where you either ignore crits entirely or build characters which have 50%+ critchance each shot. The #1 problem I have with this system thus far is that you seem to ONLY be able to gain more crit-meter via regular attacks in VATS.This sucks balls... it just rewards you for VATS-whoring as much as possible even on the most trivial shots and enemies - just because it helps you save up or bank another critical for later. In fact - the more trivial the enemy the more incentive to "farm" critical-meter on them via VATS. At the very least you shouldn't be severely punished and locked out of an entire section of the combat mechanic if you choose to use VATS in a minimal fashion. I propose a simple mod that makes the following adjustments:- Make hits outside of VATS refill crit-meter too.- To prevent crit-meter gain being too fast with this change - nerf crit-meter gain across the board. Not sure how much, but maybe start with 50%. I don't really want the rate of gaining crits to change but rather stay about the same as it would be if you chose to use VATS fairly often. That's it basically. Optionally for a more advanced version some further ideas:- Give players the option to use crits outside of VATS .I'm thinking you hit a key, you gain about 2,5sec of jet-slowdown or until you fire your next shot (+0,3sec after firing just to enjoy the head-popping). That shot gains normal crit damage obviously.- Add a small multiplier to crit-meter gain to finesse-attacks. Headshots and sneak-attacks might get a fairly small 1.5x or 2x. A melee sneak attack (usually pretty hard to pull off) maybe 3-4x. I just feel this could spice things up a little.- Scale critmeter-gain based on enemy difficulty. Currently it seems very flat, and VATSing a radroach is about the same as a deathclaw. Trivial enemies should give very small amounts and tough ones should be more rewarding. I don't know if even the most basic features are possible without the creation kit - but I felt I had to put this out there as an idea at least -Stigma This added change would finally make VATS entirely optional (well - for cits anyway... a few other abilities have VATS-related stuff too).
