Modding for a Beginner.

Hey everyone, I'm new to the Fallout 4 modding community and I've been seeing tons of mods to change the main menu music. I was wondering how I could change the music myself manually? I've converted an MP3 to an XML file, even added the Music\Special folders to my Data Folder and it still loads the default F4 main menu music. Any way to get this to switch over to my converted music file? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Did you change your Fallout4.ini to take custom music? If not; go to C:\Users\[yourname]\Documents\my games\Fallout4 and

open the Fallout4.ini in a text editor (like Notepad). Find this line; sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, and add MUSIC\, at the

end of the line (sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, MUSIC\,). Save it and you should be good to load custom music now =]

sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, INTERFACE\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\

This is what the line code in my Fallout 4.ini looks like currently.

Are you sure the file is the right format, named correctly and saved in the correct folder? Or are you running the beta?

If you're running the beta I believe all settings are set back to default each time you launch. There is a fix for this but I

can't remember what is was that you need to do for that exactly. There's a few topics on this I believe.

Okay figured it out. You can't have the music XML file named whatever the MP3 was named. In order to manually change your own music after editing your .ini file. Make a Data folder in your main Fallout 4 folder, in the Data folder make a Music folder, in the Music FOlder make a Special folder... inside the special folder put your XML file in there and name it mus_maintheme.xml.

Good to go.
