jet4571
Mot of them making the textures are angsty teens and I am sure a few are gothic. That's what happens when a new Bethesda game is released the teens are there making mass amounts of texture replacer mods and common themes can start up like hunting rifle retextures and lore murdering sound replacers being very common. The more mature and dedicated teens will outlast the rest as they move on to the next big title and those are not the ones making a quick hunting rifle retex, an absurd sound replacer or even black texture replacers. As for black textures those are actually quite popular if you ever looked through Skyrim, FO3, FNV, and Oblivion mods. The majority are made for stealth plays and not angsty goth teens just wanting black but even so are they not allowed to have black outfits? As for packing them all into one big black mod, well it's hard enough to get 10 veteran mod authors who make similar stuff to work with each other much less a hundred random first and second mod authors to collaborate. Then again does any of them want to have all armors and weapons in black or do they just want that one particular one? I would hazard to guess that the textures they release individually are the ones they wanted in black while the one someone else uploaded they didn't want. Falconian
A man's trash is another man's treasure. Also, "creativity" is a really bad argument. This sounds like "look guise I'm a special snowflake and made a pink retext I'm such an unique and original dude, not like the black retext subhuman scum!".Many black/dark mods are really detailed and show creative skills, people put hours of work into them.I got nothing but thanks for people who put hours into things like this: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2569/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Ffallout4%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D2569&pUp=1Chrome mods are great too even though they belong to the same logic as dark/black/camo retexts. As for the argument that dark retext is a teen behavior, I have more respect for those teens than dudes in their 30s still going through the contrarian special snowflake hipster syndrome phase, who cry because everyone is downloading the black mods and no one cares about their oh-so-artsy rainbow power armor recolor. invock
Those "Black" mods are numerous because... well basically they are extremely easy to do.95% of them are just texture replacers, anyone can find a texture, convert it to png, paint it black, convert it back to dds and throw it on the Nexus. There's nothing wrong with this kind of things, re-texturing is often the first step people make when they discover their own abilities at modding.Fallout 4 brings new people and, who knows, new talents to the modding community. Everyone makes baby steps, and the "[item X] now in black !" is a very typical first mod. Edited November 29, 2015 by invock

My first mod was a gun that fires guns at people XD Then when skyrim came out Bethesda changed the scripting engine to Papyrus and I had to learn it all over again. scottym23
people have the right to ask for mods to NOT be madeAbsolutely WRONG! Demanding that a mod maker not make a mod because you don't want it is selfish and egotistical. It is saying because I don't want that mod nobody should be allowed to have it even if they do want it. You are not the center of my world. Get over yourself and grow up. You completely side stepped what I said entirely....Did I ever say it wasn't selfish or egotistical? Of course it is, but people have the right to say it. That's all I said in my comment, yet you "wronged" me for "correcting" something I never said in the first place. Am I wrong that people can't ask for mods to not be made? How on Earth is that an incorrect statement? If you can't do that, then by your logic this thread should have been deleted. But it's still here, so OP clearly has a right to do it. So to you my friend, I say...."WRONG!"

You do realize this isn't a chatroom, right? Withdrawing your presence doesn't require a notification post... Secondly, if you are implying what I said was "troll bait" I honestly have no idea why you'd think that. I'm not nor have I ever tried to troll. Please, if you think anything I said was made as a joke explain it to me so I don't do it again, but I hold everything I said in the comment you quoted me in as true. Why would anyone, especially a mod, say someone is, "WRONG!" for making a statement you don't agree with? Even if you think the statement is pointless or rude or selfish, it should still be allowed to be said. To flat out tell someone they can't do that is going against a free and open forum... JohnGrimm
Ignoring the philosophical debate about mod quality; Whenever a Beth game comes out, a lot of the tools are still in the early early phases of development, and the CK has yet to come out you're going to see a lot of quickly done mediocre mods. You don't notice it for something like Skyrim but these kinds of mods are constantly being submitted. The difference is with Skyrim there's been almost 5 years worth of amazing mods and more coming every day. However with Fallout 4 less than a month from release the only things that are being submitted are small mediocre texture recolors and hacked together gameplay mods. Once all the tools are out and the foundation has solidified you'll start seeing some really impressive stuff. tl;dr: Modding takes time. High quality mods take a long time. There will be more than just quickly done recolors, just be patient.
