Someone edited my texture and uploaded as their own mod.

Has been created using my textures as a base. I'm pretty sure can't take someones texture and then paint over it with a colour and call it your own mod. I see that they have changed the ears and the eyes. But as soon as i saw the light parts of the texture near the legs i though this looked too familiar.

Below are two gifs showing how they have basically drawn over my texture.

I'm unsure how i want to approach this at the moment... I could use some community feedback on what i should do about this.

Reporting an issue lets a moderator step and and..moderate the issue and it can still be resolved amicably. Discussing it in the open forum will not likely lead to any amicable outcome at this point.

If you planned to speak to them you should have done so before posting the issue on the open forums.

Well, you can talk to them and probably should.

Many people are not very educated about copyright violation.

I mean, I can see the brown-husky mod is not ill-intended, but the person should be made aware that while he may feel free to use your file for reference, he can't just paint it over and post it and share it as his own. It would be kind of him to at least tell the source of origin of his works.

I find that always a much better approach than the "sledgehammer method" ... unless they want to feel the pain.

If someone reports a mod and says they would like a discussion a moderator can assist with that. The banhammer is not the first choice as you can see from the numerous formal warnings given. But wanting to discuss the matter maybe perhaps, like you, thinking they do not know the rules but then posting it in the open forum is to me, a bit confusing.

I hope they go straight to speak with them now if that is their desire and the thought they also had. A simple credit to the original author may be all that is wanted or needed in this specific instance.

I posted in the forums becuase i was torn between letting the mod go on since it really doesnt hurt anyone. But i also I had no idea what the procedure in this case should be. Thus looking for some advice. I'll discus with the mod author directly. Some credit should suffice, my other issue was that I was also working on colour variations of my texture. Now it would look like I've just stolen his idea (which inturn was stolen from me lol)

Thanks for your guidance.
