Deleted3507349User
Opting into the latest beta wiped my installation...so after having to download %90 of a game I bought a hard copy of (the Pip-Boy edition), which also cost me over $100 more because I'm on a limited bandwidth ISP, I now get to download the complete thing all over again? Bite me...I bought a hard copy, I want a full friggin' HARD COPY (don't mind downloading updates, mind you).
DoctorKaizeld
... why dont you finish the one at 90%? or did that get deleted?
Deleted3507349User
No no no....I meant buying a hard copy means you still have to download %90 of the thing. Why they did that instead of just putting it on a blu-ray I'll never understand.

Deleted3507349User
Yay for them. I'm not going to spend big $$$ to redownload the entire game every time they have an update that wipes my install (completely). Mind you, I don't mind downloading an update...there's never going to be an update as large as the full game.
RGMage2
It really was deceptive on Bethesda's part to sell a hard copy that required a 20 GB download. They must know that anyone who buys a hard copy doesn't want or can't do the download. Sure it says on the box "Internet connection required" that's standard and to be expected. But nowhere on the box does it say you will need to download pretty much the entire game. And yes the information was out there if you researched it, but you shouldn't need to research something like that. Hard copy means hard copy. Buying the game on disk means you get the game on disk with a small download required for installation. If they really couldn't release most of the game on disk then they shouldn't have pretended to release it on disk. Just say No Disk, Download Only. Word is anti-piracy. What they don't seem to realize is that they are driving people to piracy. Let me explain what a data cap means for anyone who doesn't understand. My internet is mobile data with a 5GB monthly cap. It's expensive but I need it on the road. Going over the cap costs $5 per 250meg, so $20 per gig. Installing FO4 would cost me $400 on top of the $93 I already paid. Well that ain't gonna happen. lol  I'm over it now, not a big deal. I expect to be unemployed in a couple of months and then I can get rid of my mobile data and switch to unlimited via cable. So everything is cool, feeling mellow, soon I will be able to install and the CK will be released around that time and I should have lots of time for modding. Life is good. DoctorKaizeld
CK will be released around that time and I should have lots of time for modding.GECK not CK also any time it says "internet connection required" it means you are getting a disk with a code on it and that's it. the hard copy disks these days are only for symbolic reasons and nothing more. TheOriginalEvilD
It's to combat piracy. Skyrim was the same way wasn't it?
Deleted3507349User
Skyrim came with the full game on disk. Any updates had to be downloaded. The Anthology however includes a fully up-to-date full game on disk (game AND all DLC). Bethesda used the Konami code on this one. As far as combating piracy, on the day it was released cracked versions were popping up like toadstools. Like qwertyzeldar said, they did to save money...blu-ray media is up to twice as expensive (at least at retail prices). Still no excuse.
