Surviving with missing limbs

Ever since I played Fallout 3 and NV, I always thought how cool it was that when you die sometimes, a limb(s) get blown off as your body ragdolls around. Then I began to think, "People can survive losing an arm". So I looked for mods that would allow the player to continue to play if they managed to survive an encounter that caused them to lose a limb. I never did find a mod like that. Maybe I missed it? Who knows.

 

I would like to request a mod that adds an additional layer to having a limb injury. Here are just some thoughts I had. Of course, these would all be up to the mod author that decides to take on this request.

 

  • Add a second health bar to all limbs. After the first is depleted, the limb is injured, just as it is in vanilla. If the second health bar is depleted, the limb is "removed" from your body.
  • Losing any limbs results in substantial penalties.
  • Losing an arm would lower your accuracy with ranged weapons substantially. Melee weapons could also be affected somehow.
  • Losing both arms would render you useless in a fight. The only thing you can do is run away.
  • Losing a leg would result in slower movement speed. A hopping animation would be nice for this.
  • Losing both legs would result in even slower movement speed. A crawling animation would be nice for this.
  • If the player manages to lose both legs and both arms without dying, they are pretty much screwed. They would just be lying there with no way to fight or move.
  • Naturally, losing your head is death anyway (Unless you want to create some crazy reason for being able to survive this).
  • Whenever you lose a limb, your health would begin to deplete until you either die or use a stimpak, which would stop the bleeding. This would not allow you to regrow your limb.
  • To get your limb fixed or replaced, you would need to visit a doctor. The doctor would have the ability to grow you a new limb or replace it with a robotic limb for a decent fee.
  • Lastly, as a bonus, there could also be perks that allow the player to either negate the effects of missing a limb, or even enhance their abilities. For example: When missing an arm, double the damage of melee weapons since the remaining arm is getting all the exercise.

I would totally love to see this get implemented, and i think this idea will goes well with synth techology. It is really a shame for Bethsade to remove the implant feature all together which is not only a step back from previous installments but also displays their slacking off and a waste of opperunty.
