Oblivion Low fps need help

I need sme help cuz i have only 5-20 fps in the game sometimes about 30 in rooms

My system is

Intel Core 2 duo e6300

512 mb ddr2 corsair ram

Ati Radeon x1300

There's a lot of info on tweaking your ini and such to increase performance here.

 

But really I'm not sure how much performance you're going to get with 512MB of RAM. Upgrading to 1GB would give you a big boost.

I know it's already been said, but just to emphasise it further, you really do need at least a gig of ram for Oblivion.

Anyway, you may have written it, but what is your video card specs, and what GHz is your CPU?

 

Yeah, I'm going with 2GB RAM as well, it's a good choice.

 

Maybe there is something like the fps optimizer done for morrowind for oblivion?

Other than that the exe optimizer, also created for morrowind might do something for your system, but it appears to be your hardware that is slowing your system down, most noticeably you ram.

There are few mods that help somewhat with better fps in exchange for eye candy :

 

Nearly perfect frame rate optimiser: Get info on the oblivion setings and what they do before you start using this. Takes some fudging to get this work nicely, but realy usefull little mod. Read the manual ;)

I pretty much sorted mine by turning the grass distance to nothing.

The worlds abit flat now, but at least I dont think im winning a fight then wake up underneath a somewhat hefty minotaur every 2 minutes now.
