Jacko
EDIT: I'd just like to add (after reading the 'Bad Mods vs True Technical Support thread) that I have reinstalled the game already and tried running Vanilla. Onwards! Hi guys, Recently I decided to give Oblivion another playthrough. I decided I'd use a few mods this time around though, rather than go through vanilla again. I installed Oblivon, patched it up to v1.2 (uk) and installed the following mods: ooo 1.3The Bow of BonesCrowded Cities Koldorns Cave TexturesAnvil Merchant UpgradeBeautiful People Everything installed perfectly fine and I was soon creating my character / playing through the tutorial. Broke free of the sewers, got into a scrap with a camp set up nearby and even raided a tomb. Everything totally fine, no problems at all. I exited Oblivion to grab a spot of lunch. When I came back later, I found to my horror that I was totally unable to load any save games. I could get into the main menu and start a new game no problem, but attempting to load a save rebooted my computer. I tried running Oblivion as vanilla / starting a new game but it still wouldn't allow me to load savegames. I cursed softly, tossed it to one side and got on with other things. Today I decided to give it another go (well what else am I going to do over a three day weekend?) so I decided to totally remove Oblivion via my CP. Doing so prompted this error: Erk. Does anyone have any clue as to what that is then? I've had a look around but I can't turn anything up I'm afraid. At first I thought it could be my OS (x64 pro) but then I realised that was a rather silly conclusion; I've had Oblivion running fine on this OS prior to all this nonsense. I even had it running on Vista Ultimate a few weeks ago... with many of those mods installed too. Right, down to the nitty gritty: OS ~ x64 ProCPU ~ Core II Duo E6600 Ram ~ 2GB Dual Channel DDRGFX ~ Geforce 7600 GT Is it possible that patching the game causes conflicts with a few mods? Help! :(
Switch
Patching to 1.2 causes problems with a bunch of mods... are you sure all the mods you have installed are 1.2 compatible? As for the uninstall bug, that's a common problem. Try running setup.exe from the disk. If that doesn't work (which it sometimes doesn't) you'll have to do a manual delete and regedit I'm afraid. JDFan
Jacko, The uninstall bug is fairy common see this post for directions on manually uninstalling to get you back up and running

Jacko
Right, I followed the steps in the mentioned post and reinstalled. Without any mods / patching, it still reboots whenever I try to load a save game. This is really bloody strange, I had it working fine a few months ago :|
Switch
Hmm... is this with the 1.1 or 1.2 patch? Might be worth trying a new game on either unpatched Oblivion or 1.1 patched and see if the glitch persists on a new unmodded savegame.
Jacko
I gave up and reinstalled Vista. I'm happy to report that Oblivion is now working fine and I'm gaming quite happily! :) It sure takes a long time to level up using ooo though, I've been level one for about 3 hours now :( Thanks for all the advice, it's appreciated :)
