Is there a maximum limit of NPCs?

I have a vague memory of reading that there is a limit of how many NPCs you can have in your game, and after that limit has been reached you will start seeing weird behaviour by NPCs and so on.

I wonder if this is true, and if it is, what is the maximum number of NPCs that you can have?

If I install Shivering Isles, all DLCs, all Unique Landscapes, Better Cities, Elsweyr Anquina, TWMP Hammerfell, TWMP Skyrim and a lot of new cities like Bartholm, Sutch, Kvatch Rebuilt, Rathunas, Bloodlines, Suliin Village and so on, will I get to many NPCs?

yeah there is...

a setting called maximum AI like that. As I remember maybe something like 20 for vanilla AI

so when a cell loaded (area where you play at) number AI that can move and interact is cap by 20

this issue will starting when there is too many NPC in one area cell... npc number 21 22 and so on will just stand up doing nothing

SOLUTION : if you using Wrye Bash, when creating Bashed Patch > Tweak Settings > AI:Max Active Actors (change this value to 40 or suits your need)

Combat:MaxActors (change this too match to previous value example 40 as stated above)

ANOTHER SOLUTION : confuse use Wrye bash? The use this mod Mass Ai

nope I don't think so.

If there is limit maybe the answer is hard drive space ....

assumed there is so many mods installed with mass npc included in each of that mod

but this is far from limit.

and possible another limit is maximum numeric game engine. well this is going to be math

one mod can contain about FFFFFF (in hex) npc = 16.777.215 and mod can be loaded 254 in maximum

so if we calculate it the maximum NPC number limit probably is around 4.261.412.610

if .... all 254 mod is filled with npc only
