I cant hear my NPC voices anymore :wacko: . So any way to get them back or something? Could it have been bugged because of Wisemans Reduced Textures because my NPC voices (They cant talk any more, but i can hear all other voices like jumping and slashing voices thought) are gone.

Can't have been Wisemans Reduced Textures since it only changes textures, not voices. I'm using it myself and don't have any sound issues.

 

Did you install any other mods recently?

What do you mean by "My NPC" ie. your character or a NPC which stands for non-player-character.?

What do you mean by "jumping, slashing voices?" do you mean the splashing sounds? ie. special effects?

 

First off check if your "voices" slider in options is not all the way to the left.

 

Make sure you have not moved/deleted the Oblivion - Voices1.bsa and Oblivion - Voices2.bsa in /Oblivion/Data folder. if its npc's

 

If its a companion... then check that you have not renamed the .esm to something else than original, rename it back or check that the /sounds folder is in correct place...

 

If its your character...

Hello there - i've also just lost my NPC voices.

 

I can get all other sound effects and i also get voices when I am in 'conversation' with NPCs, so, when they are talking to me for quest information etc. But the incidental NPC speech, such as 'good day' etc has gone.

 

I was running various mods - all working fine, but I decided to reload everything today (for reasons too long to explain). I'm running exactly the same ones and was checking them as I loaded them up. The last mod loaded was MD_Saddle_Bags_v26_Beta. This seems to have changed things. I've checked the audio options and re-coped the Voice.bsa files (I always keep a 'fresh' copy of the vanilla Oblivion data file). I've checked the Sounds file to make sure nothing was changed and i've copied a fresh version over just in case. but still no luck.

 

Very bizarre.

 

I've investigated this a bit and there seem to be several people who've experience NPC voice loss after installing seemingly unrelated mods. Sadly, the threads only go so far and none come up with a solution.

 

I'll play the game with the problem for a bit, in case it's one of those things that 'fixes' itself. But I'm not hopeful.

 

Any help gratefully recieved - I miss the NPC idle chitter chatter :)

Hello there - i've also just lost my NPC voices.

 

Question: Do the npc's stand face to face with each other and talk "silently"? Can you see the lips moving, but no sound? Or they just don't stop and face each other at all?

NPC lips move but there is no sound. This happens when they talk to each other and when they talk to you in passing. As I say, when you are getting quest information or buying goods etc, the voice sounds work.

 

Other sound effects seem to be working fine as far as I can tell. I can hear NPC footsteps for example.

Also - I've just checked and NPC voices aren't working in new games either (sorry I should have checked that before)

That is bizare indeed. All i can think of is that the mp3 sound files are damaged, and you only have .lip files working or the game has decided to use .wav files for sounds and since there are no .wav files.. no sound.

 

Or maybe it has something to do with the 3d positional sound, something to do with the dx options for 3d sound or your soundcard configuration... Try to think back to what you did just before it happened.

 

Maybe somene has had this prob before. :huh:

but i know that a mod named `modified hair and eyes` do that.

 

if i take off this mod i can hear the voices

but when i take on the mod i can´t hear the voices.

 

i hope someone can help me because for me this mod is very important.

Any race modifying mods, if they are in different language(like applying German version of some cosmetic mod on English version of the game), will make such problem. Check your game language and mod language.
