One thing that's kind of bugged me about Skyrim is that when walking through one of the cities the guards will occasionally comment on my skill set, one of the quotes I sometimes hear that I wish I could do something about is "This dull old blade can barely cut butter".

 

My character is quite handy with a hammer and grinding wheel, I'm sure she can help him out with that.

 

What I'd like to find is a mod that'll give you random quests from strangers and/or shopkeepers, starting with menial stuff to more alluring tasks.

 

Using the blacksmithing example, you could start out working for town blacksmiths by fetching materials or delivering custom weapons to an NPC. Then you could move up to smithing some items for them when your smithing level reaches a certain point, the payout would be a fraction of what the weapon would cost to sell; but they give you all the necessary materials to complete the task.

 

Then as your reputation as a blacksmith improves you could be approached by random NPC's in town for various smithing tasks, at low reputation you may be asked to simply sharpen a blade for a few coins. And as your reputation and skill rise you could then possibly be asked to smith high tier weapons and armor for Jarls, nobles and soldiers.
