CyrusAmell
On a number of occasions, without warning, I have noted a dip in population in a settlement and visited to find the whole place wrecked: infrastructure such as water pumps and turrets in dire need of repair. In none of these instances have I ever lost a settler perhaps because the game first reduces turrets and infrastructure before moving on to people (the former of which I had plenty). But I never received a warning, and I often check in my Misc quest tab and remain vigilant for pop-ups. On two occasions this occurred to The Castle where I have a defense of 433 thanks to the gun-drop-tab exploit. So when I come in I have a massive amount of expensive repairs that drain my resources to look out for. But I know for a fact I saw no warning of any kind. I have been thinking about it and I think I know one possible answer. At night I like to speed things up so the merchants are awake and because I hate fighting in the dark, so I sleep for at times 8-12 hours. What if, for instance, the settlement is "attacked" two hours into my sleep and the time to repel the attack expires by the time I wake up? This does not explain why I receive no notification at all as to my failure to defend. Maybe I never receive a failure notice because I was not awake to receive the initial signal? It is beyond exasperating that my best defended settlement, staffed by 20 people with 4 artillery pieces and enough turrets to shoot the damn Brotherhood airship out of the sky (no spoilers please) cannot look out for itself! Does anyone else think this is possible? Edited December 15, 2015 by CyrusAmell
MAK10Z
I wouldn't put it past the game to do that crap with out warning. as it stands a bunch of messages just slip right by me in my game. even with the better settlement alert mod I've had settlements attacked while i was in other locations without warning. That does seem the more likely explanation. It would have been nice if Bethesda had made the system more clear and understandable, but as it stands I am waiting for the eventual mod that delays the time to respond to such attacks indefinitely. Talwyn224
I'm waiting on the mod in which a settlement with a defence rating of over 80, fully enclosed with defensive walls etc and a population well armed and armoured doesn't need to have the player teleport in to defend it....
lvhoang
Yes. I don't know how doable that ism but it would be nice to have a mod where, when your settlement is attacked, you spawn there ad one of the regular settlers and try help your Base!!!Wouldn't that be fun? (just over all 4 very light attacks)
UhuruNUru
Don't think that's exactly how it works, my experience suggests that the start of the attacks are time limted and they simply start if you arrive, if you aren't in that cell within the time limit, the attack appears to always succeed. The attack isn't random action, unless you are there to see and stop it. I have one settlement that was occupied by Super Mutants before I even knew it was there. It has the Workshop, but I have no quest to make it mine. This occurred, before I even had a map marker for it.
